VHS RECORDER AND DVD PLAYER (Renewed)

UPDATE- Full Five stars I'm keeping my comments below as I believe the comments are still accurate. However, it turns out that most of my problems most likely have come from the degraded tapes. Despite the intermittent error, everything is functioning properly and I am able to transfer my tapes to Digital which was the sole purpose of buying the equipment It is important to mention that the 2 extra stars were added because of the incredible customer service provided by David at Western Central. He was very thorough and responded immediately. I would 100% purchase from Western Central and I would highly recommend buying from this vendor. Knowing older technology would have inherent problem, the customer service provided is big. I have no doubt that Western Central would have allowed me to return the item and sent me a new one if this one did indeed have problems Old Post I feel it's important give an honest review on this product. I received this product Friday (2 days ago) and everything was well packaged and all items included as expected. Unfortunately upon power up, the unit immediately returned an error C003 which indicates a mechanical failure, often related to the loading motor, tape transport mechanism, or tape tension. This also happens intermittently as I put in the VHS tape. Without going into troubleshooting details, the unit eventually started playing and functioned as it should. The problem is that it seems that there is some intermittent problem with the VHS mechanism. I have not tested the dvd which I most likely will not be using. I believe the seller has refurbished this product, tested the product and took great care in packaging. I also believe this product was sold in good faith. Along with this product is documentation giving the buyer contact information in the case that product is defective or breaks. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because the product is slightly defective. I would not hold this against the refurbisher. The problem with ordering something like this, is that the technology is so old that even with a full refurbishment, there is a high probability something might be wrong with the unit. Of course, I will be reaching out this coming week to see what can be done. Depending on the service, I will be updating this review.

The item I bought was just what I wanted. It allows me to view movies and tapes of very special events, The item I bought is in excellent condition. I can recommend it.

This VHS and DVD hasn't worked since I received it. Never could get it to turn on no matter what I did. Finally got my son to check it out and the same thing. Can't play my dvd's or vhs tapes. I was wondering if I can send it back to you and get another one. Thank you.

Renewed VHS/DVD received in good order. Well packed had cables and universal remote. I was glad for this as some of the reviews said that these were missing. I was able to find instruction manual on line. Plays good VHS tapes great. Plays ok tapes ok. Plays DVD great. I got the universal remote to do basic functions, on/off, play, stop, slow motion, record, FF and Rew. Unable to access menu, set clock, program recordings. I tried another universal remote that I have, same results. Oh well it works. I may order another after the holidays. I wonder if the renewed folks are interested in old used units to renew? Or offer a trade-in on purchase of another renew.

I was impressed that the unit was securely packed. However, there was damage to side rear corner. This damage is shown on included photo. This may have been caused due to the remote being wrapped too tightly to the unit, and the damage was under the remote. Otherwise, everything looked brand new. In about thirty minutes I was viewing my DVD's and VHS movies. Very happy with the purchase and impressed that service is available by phone. I have access to the user manual and a 90 day warranty. The damaged corner is not visible from the location, so all is well.

The unit shipped with an mini AV to HDTV converter. Tried on two TVs and would not work. I purchased a RASFOX AV to HDNI converter and the VHS/DVD player worked on both TVs. The RASFOX is sold on AMAZON and is good quality and works.

The item was like new and came with all the necessary equipment rca cable hdmi cable and remote. It worked great. The only negitive is that the device did not have and hdmi port as advertised. It did not impact anything because it works just fine with the rca cable they did include a hd video converter

It's my own fault! I ordered this thinking I could use it to copy vhs tapes to dvd. IT WILL NOT DO THAT! I should have reaf more carefully the description although I feel rhat they were not clear about the functions of this unit. Therefore I am stuck with an expensive unusable unit for the purpose I sought. BOOHOO!

So far I have been very happy with this VHS/DVD player. I did buy myself an adapter through Best Buy to convert the red white & yellow cables to HDMI. I changed the aspect ratio on our TV to 4:3 when using the player

Refurbished, works great.

Pleased with the item except getting VHS to work is an ongoing problem. No problem with DVD.

Found a lot of old vhs tapes in cleanup. Now have a chance to play them. Nostalgia at its best. DVD is bonus.
