We had a cord on a lamp that our puppy chewed through. This worked fine as a complete replacement, although in most cases you probably just need the cord. Install was pretty straight-forward, but YMMV depending on the lamp you have. Good luck on your repair!

I used these to rewire a retro light fixture that had been fabric wrapped style wiring. The wires do have a rib for determining the hot/black/usually gold screw side. It worked well, good outcome. Since the socket dangles inside the fixture I had no issues related by others.

Instructions were easy to follow and exactly what I needed to replace the wiring, switch, and socket to an old lamp that died. The neutral and ground wire were easy to distinguish (though you have to look closely to see the smooth wire with no translucent words was the ground wire)

I bought two of these to rewire a couple of vintage glass lamps. The instructions were very clear, and everything in the kit was very easy to use. They look absolutely perfect on the lamps. The one thing that wasn't great is that these are definitely 3-way sockets, which is not something I was looking for. (I bought the B&P Lamp Nickel Plated Socket, Clear Silver Cord Set.)

This set looks nice and formidable, however, it did not work with out curved antique piano lamp at it was so difficult to get the cord through the curved upper portion and pulled through we wasted hours and had to use our item supplies to assist us... only to discover later that the supplies in this set do not fit our antique, curved lamp. We ended up so mad we donated the lamp for somebody else to figure out. We are keeping this set but have no idea if we will ever use it. This was a bummer. Lesson to glean from my experience: do not attempt to replace the parts on a curved lamp with petal style opening facing down. Only attempt top install this on a standard lamp where your lightbulb is facing toward the ceiling.
