Tell Me What to Eat if I Have Acid Reflux, Revised Edition: Nutrition You Can Live With

First book to read if you have acid reflux
A good first book for anyone first being diagnosed with acid reflux. The recipes sometimes contradict the articles in the book. When someone has acid reflux they should never consume acid foods such as lemon, pineapple, tomato, onions, garlic, or ANY type of vinegar or mayo -even if they don't seem to suffer any discomfort from eating these foods because acid reflux is still causing very subtle damage. The recipes in the book contain some of these foods which will eventually worsen the symptoms of acid reflux. Also not mentioned, avoid all cookies, nuts, and chips because they contain a lot of fats and tiny crumbs which will irritate the lining of your throat. For greater depth and understanding of all digestive problems read GASTROINTESTINAL HEALTH by Steven R. Peikin. DROPPING ACID:THE REFLUX DIET COOKBOOK by Jamie Koufman is a great source for how to cook meals you can safely eat and explains in detail what really causes acid reflux.

... Diet Foods but What You Need This is an excellent book for managing GERD
Low-fat Diet Foods but What You NeedThis is an excellent book for managing GERD. Magee gives you everything you need to know from symptoms to OTC medications to when to contact medical professionals and why, what to eat and what not to eat with the caveat that some foods affect people on varying levels or not at all, and so on.For many, obesity is an issue that promotes acid reflux. The diet Magee outlays is healthy. My only gripe is that she says to get rid of diet food but encourages; turkey bacon, skim milk, reduced fat cheese, and reduced fat Triscuits. These are all diet foods and not real foods. I have seen the clean-eating gurus suggest the same so she is not alone in this. I guess a whole foods diet with processed food has become part of the universal consciousness.

Great and informative book.
The thing that I really liked about this book is that it laid out information in compact, consice and easy to understand wording. It wasn't overwritten. The author gives you the information you are looking for. So many books on this subject, that I have been reading, are bogged down with technical medical terminology and jargon that lose the reader within minutes. This is the most interesting way to present this kind of information, in a FAQ style. The other best thing about this book is the recipes. I've tried several and they are most excellent and do not give me heartburn at all.Try as best you can, to get yourself off of caffeine, citric acid drinks, alcohol and carbonated beverages, unluss you want the issues I'm having, where you cannot swallow very well and you want to rip your esophogas apart. Don't ignore those warning signs, or it can turn into worse.

Wonderful little book
I found this book to be quite helpful for acid reflux sufferers. It is very concise, a lot of information in a nice small book. The book is set up with several question and answer sections, descriptions of the problems associated with acid reflux and what can happen if it is not treated, as well as discussions on medications and treatments and specific foods and drink that cause problems. The author has included many wonderful breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert recipes as well as ideas on how to eat during the holidays. The book ends with a chapter on how to eat at restaurants. Overall, I found this book to be very informative.

Tell Me What to Eat if I have Acid Reflux
I think this is a very comprehensive report on reflux problems. I have a sonwith Barrett's Esophagus and he seems to ignore the importance of diet. He eatsfast food often and does not pretend to be on a diet. I bought this as a gift for him and think it will help him immensely. It goes all the way, explaining the different drugs and their benefits. The menusare a big help for those who want to prepare meals at home.It is well worth the price, in my opinion.

Good book.
Finding what to do these days with medical diagnosis is hard, people are finding out that the stomach acid reducers should not be used longer than a couple of weeks. The best way to deal with reflux is elevating the upper body while sleeping, don't eat three hours before bed, lose weight because that extra fat weighs down on the gut, and most importantly, get off the high acid foods and high acid sodas and alcohol. I got off prescription to OTC acid reducers, did the rest of this, and I am very healthy again.

great start
I really like this book. It is stacked with vital information about how to take care of your stomach so your acid reflux does not turn difficult or dangerous. It tells you MUCH MORE any doctor will and the recipes I tried are pretty good, which is a added plus!

A good book but the recipes I found a bit complicated
I bought this book as I have terrible acid reflux at times, I bought Good Gut Healing at the same time. If I am totally honest whilst this book was good I feel the other book is much better. Don't get me wrong there is a lot of information in there and a lot of recipes of which I have tried none of them. The other book gave me some really helpful advice and has allowed me to manage my acid reflux so I am drug free and quite well. This book is aimed at Acid Reflux where as the other is aimed at all stomach issues.
