Canadian Maple war
You think you're buying this soldering iron kit for simple electronics? A hobby? That's adorable. I owe this kit my life. I was operating deep behind enemy lines in Canada during the Great Maple Syrup Wars. Things went south. I was captured by a heavily armed flannel-clad platoon and tossed into a holding cell in a strategic syrup reserve. They didn't just lock the door. They jammed the electronic lock mechanism with three inches of hardened, 50-year-old, crystallized maple syrup. The air was thick with the smell of despair and Grade A Amber. It was, without a doubt, the stickiest situation of my life. But they missed this kit. I fired up the iron. It heated up fast—no joke, this thing is a high-performance freedom tool. I used the fine-point tip (the selection of tips is excellent, by the way) and began my work. I meticulously melted my way through the caramelized, sugary prison. The heat control was precise enough that I didn't fry the sensitive circuits, just liquefied the tactical goo that held me captive. I used the little tweezers to pull out a massive, sticky glob of crystallized sap. I even used the solder sucker to clear the last bit of liquid syrup from the contact points. Click. The lock disengaged. I was free. I fought my way to the border using only this hot iron and a fierce will to live. This kit has everything you need. It heats up fast, the tools are solid, and it will get you through the toughest jobs. Whether you're repairing a motherboard or escaping a Canadian black-site, this is the 5-star kit you want.

When I used this soldering iron, I realized what a piece of crap my old soldering iron was...
I'd had my old one for probably 15 years, bought off the wall of a hardware store for something I was working on at the time that is since forgotten. I believe it was 30 watts, and while well-constructed, it seemed to take forever to heat anything up and soldering was difficult, making me think it was me doing something wrong or not doing what I should be doing to make things work. This new soldering iron is like night and day as far as how it heats and works. It made a recent small soldering project so much quicker and easier, I kicked myself (not literally) for not getting one a long time ago. The reason for the four stars is because of the temperature control. It works, because I did my soldering on a lower temperature, which worked great, and then as a test I cranked the temp control up to full power. In a couple minutes the whole end of the iron, not just the soldering tip, was starting to glow red, so the control definitely works. I don't know if the numerical temp values are accurate as to the actual temperature of the soldering tip, but it's easy enough to tell the green numbers from the red, so you know when you're heading into 'super hot' territory. The problem is that it just feels a little cheap to me, like the control may be the first thing to fail. Also, the print on the sticker affixed to the control knob is so tiny I can't read it with my fifty-plus-year-old eyes. The stand, tips, and all the included accessories, including the solder (which I used for my soldering project), all seem to be of good, functional quality. Overall this product is a great value for the money, given all you get with the iron. For the person who only solders a few times a year like me, it will probably last you a long time. If you solder eight hours a day, you'll probably want something better, but for my purposes this will do just fine and will probably (hopefully) last the rest of my life. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Great little kit. Amazing value for the cost.
I've been using a garbage tier 15w soldering iron for the better part of 10 years because I convinced myself it wasn't worth spending the $100+ for a good soldering station. I saw all the good reviews on this kit and the price made my jaw drop, so I tried it out. I bought this primarily to repair my oven which had a shoddy connection on the bottom bake element which had it intermittently working, but I also thought I'd try to resurrect a still decent, but dead, graphics card. Both repairs have been successful and this little iron has already saved me at least $500. This kit has already paid for itself several times over in the first week I've owned it. It heats up fast, the tips are nice, and the included solder does the job. I'm confident that this little iron could do anything that a $100+ iron could do in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing. I haven't needed to use the desoldering pump, but I did try and use it because it seemed gimmicky/cheap and I didn't think it would work. I was wrong, it does exactly what it's said to do and sucks the bead of solder right up. If you're new to soldering, or have been doing it for years, this is a great kit to start with, and a great kit to have as a backup. For someone who repairs electronics, there is literally no reason not to buy this kit.

Great for DIY car work
This actually has everything you need to get started minus heat shrink and C Flux, but its a darn good little kit and it will melt non-leaded solder no problem.

Worked well for quite some time, then the cheapness crept in.
I bought this years ago now and have completed many projects will little issue, but it seems to have self destructed. My hypothesis as to its' demise: The ceramic element had flaky black carbon which has led to poor heating, poor heating leads to rapid solder oxidation and the cheap tips can not cope. My last project required more watts than I typically use, 12 awg wire + xt60, which is EASILY within the scope of a 60w iron. Swapped out to a chisel tip, tinned up just fine and then it all went ugly. First joints were OK, then no matter what I did I couldn't keep the tip clean for more than 2 joints without going into full cleaning routine. Cooled it off thinking it was a bad tip, second tip followed the same pattern. Cooled it off again and inspected it more closely, found the oxidation. Tried lowering the temp (it's not thermostatically controlled, that dial only increases wattage) It could be bad tips, it could be the heating element, it could be I've forgotten how to solder and care for my iron. Either way, she is dead to me now. Overall it really isn't a "good" iron, never was, but it was good enough and great for the money. Served me well for 4+ years of occasional use including smt, hobby and household uses. Advice: The iron is ok, the tweezers are decent, the sucker is OK (prefer wick), the stripper is crap, included solder is lead free and therefore harder to work with, the stand is not terribly stable, the sponge is a sponge, the tips absolutely REQUIRE you to maintain them and the case is nice enough. Add in the price of good flux core solder SRA 63/47 or similar, some paste flux or flux pen, helping hands thingy and you'll have a nice setup for the price. Warning: thin plastic threads are weaker than you are, use care.

Great fix
This kit actually works pretty good. It comes with extra things you could use later on. We used it to “weld” a wire from some wheel lights for a truck. The lights started working once they were connected with the kit.

Great value for money.
I have no prior soldering experience. I've used it to successfully swap pickups in one my guitar. The price of the kit, is cheaper than the cost of a technician to the swap.
