Q: Will this fit the echogear 10u open frame rack? (egav-prof10)

It is a standard 19 inch wide rack mount. But is is meant for a 4 post rack and not a 2 post open frame. Make sure you look at the pictures or description to check minimum/maximum depth since it is adjustable.

Q: Will this fit a laptop when open?

Hello, this shelf has a surface area of 17.5" W x 21.75" D. Please not that this shelf is not a sliding shelf, however, as long as your lap top is with in those dimensions this shelf will hold it.

Q: Will this fit in any standard 19" rack or is it for only Navepoint brand 19" racks (I have a Startech rack enclosure)?

Yes. I have 2 of these mounted in a 19" Startech rack. The ears line up with standard 19" rails. The width of the shelf is the same as all of the equipment, so there is about a 3" gap on both sides of the actual shelf.

Q: Description says 265 lb capacity, others say 99 lb, still others say about 40 lb. So my question is huh? what is it really?
