Q: Is this to apply to skin prior to sensor or to put on top to protect from water?

I use them over the top for extra security. I think you could use them on skin and apply sensor through the cut out section in the middle.

Q: where on earth do you get the actual monitor? I cannot find it anywhere...

Check out Dexcom online for the transmitter which is linked to your insulin pump.

If you're skin is sensitive to adhesive on sensor put one of the patches first then sensor ifound it helped

Q: What else is required to use this

Well you need the Dexcom G6 obviously but otherwise the patch comes with all you need to give the device extra security.
