私はダイアナ妃の写真集を多く持っていますが、この本は一番ダイアナ妃の魅力を捉えていると思います。イブニング・ドレスを着て、まるでファッションモデルか女優のようなポーズをとるダイアナ妃。全てのページがダイアナ妃の輝きに溢れています。顔をアップで撮影した写真が多くありますが、吸い込まれそうなブルーの瞳がとても印象的です。この写真集を見て改めてダイアナ妃はプリンセスではなく、スターだったと思いました。もう二度とダイアナ妃のような人は現れないでしょう。

その昔VANITY FAIR誌に掲載された写真も含まれていて、その集大成といった写真集です。カメラマンのマリオ・テスティノ氏にとてもうち解けられたのでしょうね。とてもリラックスした様子のダイアナ妃が捉えられています。　辛い出来事を乗り越えた、とても晴れやかな彼女の姿を目にすると、このあと彼女を襲った出来事が本当に悲しく思い出されます。彼女が亡くなって10年が近くなりますが、偲ぶにふさわしい一冊だと思います。

I prefer Patrick Demarchelier's famous photos of Diana, but Testino was her favorite photographer and that is obvious here. The book includes the Vanity Fair portfolio which were published with a story in that magazine in the US, in the month of her untimely death. A lovely coffee table book or picture book to flick through from time to time. Stunning photography of a willing subject.
