I love it!
I’m a fan of Big Muff fuzz for guitar. Have recently branched out into playing bass and needing a fuzz, this works perfectly. The critical control that other fuzzes, including some bass fuzzes, don’t have, that this does, is a blend knob. The ability to blend dry and affected sound is wonderful. I also find this pedal has a much fuller and bassier tone profile than my regular Big Muff (Rams Head in my case). If you love fuzz and play bass, just buy it and enjoy!

Muff on my mind, all day, all night
Haven't dove into the MUFF in over 20 years. This thing is awesome. A lot of control, so it can take a few minutes while you dial it in for a track, but once you're there, she gives you exactly what you're looking for to get off and go. Love it. Get one. Feel it. Taste it. Makes my P Bass into a nasty, fuzzy lick machine. Can't wait to get home and play it, now that it's on my mind.

I dig it!
I use this with a custom Lap Steel Bass as well as a PRS Baritone 277. Impressive, Raw, Primal dynamic range.

Definitely recommend
This is my favorite purchase of the year! The sound is great. I find myself playing longer and more often than I have in years!

The very best bass distortion EHX has to offer!
If you're a fan of the regular bass Big Muff Pi and you want something with a bit more flexibility to it, this pedal's your best bet! It gives you full control of how much distortion is blended with the dry signal while allowing you to control the overall volume so you don't find yourself too loud or too quiet for the mix when you kick it on. The crossover switch is especially cool because it puts a high-pass filter on the distortion and low-pass filter on the dry signal to give you more control over what part of the signal is distorted and what part is clean. You can, for example, roll back the LPF just a little to restore some of the picking or plucking sounds on the clean side to get a more percussive tone or roll up the HPF knob a bit to get some more "twang" and make the distorted signal a little more trebly. I find it perfect for getting a tone that cuts through the mix more. Just be aware that when turned to a little beyond 11 o'clock the LPF becomes very, very deep and bassy; it tends to be a bit overpowering. But turn it higher or lower than that and you should be fine. If you love the tone of the Big Muff Pi I can't recommend this one enough.

This pedal has so much versatility and it’s exactly what he needed!
By boyfriend loves to play bass and he’s been wanting a Big Muff for a very long time so this past Christmas I finally bought him one and he loves it! He used it all the time and tells me that it’s the exact one he would have picked for himself! It’s one of the leading pedals of its time!

Well built + good features, but not for me.
I've always heard everyone rave about the Big Muff line of pedals, and I'm in the process of building an entirely new bass rig, so I thought I'd pick one up and give it a try. There were a lot of good things about this pedal - construction quality, wet-dry mix knobs, tone shaping, DI and parallel outs - all the things that make it good. However, ultimately, I did not like the tone it produced. I prefer a boomier overdrive/distortion, as opposed to the fuzzy thinner distortion of this. Additionally, no matter the settings I had, turning it on removed some of the 'bite' from my tone. I play a Warwick through a Mesa Titan V12 with a pick. Style of music is modern progressive with big deep grooves and highs that pop out. An important part of my style is being able to really 'dig into' a note and have it bite like a tube distortion - this is something this pedal definitely could not do. It just kinda muffled/flattened the tone so there was no pick / string dynamics. Overall, seemed like a great pedal, just didn't really do what I wanted it to.

Wonderful Fuzz
I picked this up because my band just made a record and we through some fuzz on the bass on a couple tracks and I wanted to reproduce that sound live. My only regret is not having this before we went into the studio. The wizards at EHX have made the best bass fuzz/overdrive/distortion ever. Seriously. I don't like the words "best" or "ever", but they fit the bill here. The blend knob is a brilliant idea. I had something similar to this on my old SWR 750x bass head, but my GK MB Fusion is just a little (infinitely) easier to haul from gig to gig. The blend knob acts as a wet/dry so your low notes still have thump and weight to them when you're distorting the hell out of them. The tone shaping capabilities are excellent, from a little bit of sizzle, to full on "Bass solo take one" madness. The Gate is easy to set and intuitive and the Crossover functions (high and low pass filters) are really fun to play with. IF there was a way to give a six star review, I would. This thing will be on my pedalboard for the rest of my life.

Must have fuzz pedal for bassists
Really good unit for a bassist.. love the fact that it has an xlr out for a cleaner tone. The "Next door neighbor" bass tone in the recommended settings is quite good.

If I can only use 1 pedal this is it!
I wanted that classic muff sound and spent some time choosing between this and a nano bass muff and I'm glad that I chose this one. This is THE fuzz pedal to have rich, warm and very flexible. It has so much a DI and clean parallel out for a tuner or other effects/amp. The crossover only effects the sound when the fuzz is on but sounds great gives a tone similar to an envelope filter without the variation - this I really love and I own several filters. I can't help smiling every time I kick this on. It's built like a tank and sounds great. I also can help playing the intro to 'Form whom the bells toll' when this is paired with my Wah.

Très bonne pédale. Sonne parfaitement sur Jazz Bass et Markbass. Amp
Cette big muff + un compresseur et un accordeur, point ! On a tout ! ( mon avis de non collectionneur d’effets inutiles )!

Excelente!
Justo el sonido que quería! Gordo, rasposo pero sin perder la claridad de los bajos. Una joya.
