A Handy Slip-On Bevel Guide
This simple, slide-on angle guide does help maintain a consistent angle when sharpening a knife. I am not an expert sharpener and I do not trust myself to maintain the same angle for both sides of the blade and while stepping through different levels of abrasives.I am currently experimenting with the "Scary Sharp" approach, using 3M honing film mounted on float glass, to sharpen some of my older kitchen knives. The guide does help but for a really sharp edge, after setting the bevels and polishing to 12 micron/1200 grit, I finish with 9 micron/1800 grit. And I have to roll the guide up off the back just a couple of degrees to finish with the last half dozen strokes. And I do this for both sides of the knife, of course. The Scary Sharp approach is being adopted by many woodworkers for their flat chisel and plane blades. Most highly recommend using a bevel guide of one sort or another. It is also being used by Straight Razor enthusiasts, though the one tutorial video did not show a bevel guide being used. Given my stated above lack of confidence in my ability to maintain an identical bevel for both sides as I step through 40/30/12/9 micron honing films, a guide of some sort seemed mandatory. And this one is working for me well. I even used it with some 120 grit wet/dry sanding paper to remove larger nicks in the kitchen knives The ceramic rod at the back of the guide slipped over all of the various levels of abrasives quite well. The price seems a bit high for what it is. But most competitor guides were similarly priced. One guide is significantly cheaper but comes from overseas and takes weeks to arrive. I would buy this guide again. as it is well made and delivered very quickly.

It's just meh. Just ok.
I would honestly not recommend this to anyone. Its ok but the angle on this tool is like a one size fits all type. You also have to be careful with it if not you can scratch up your knife. Maybe some soap or other lubricant to help easy the blade in. I ended up scratching my Spyderco Police 4 with it. 😓 To wrap it up, my sole complaint is it is only for one angle and it can scratch up your knives. If you have a Japanese knife forget it! I recommend the Sharpal Angle Pyramid. It has a 14°, 17°, 20°, and 25° angles to offer variety and cheaper too.

It'll mark on the back of the knife
This is great as I learning on how to sharpen knife and provide the much needed help to make sure that I get it right. The only issue is that it leaves marks on the back of the knifes since it holds the blade so tight.

Don’t recommend
As much as I like this company’s smaller product, I really don’t like this one. It was missing a part out of the box (rubber foot) and difficult to assemble. Also very slow delivery.

Works well. But what angle is it?
I used it on an assortment of kitchen knives from cleaver to paring knife. Seems to work well making sharpening a lot easier than by hand.Only issue is that there is ZERO information stating the sharpening angle of this guide. The ad states "It provides a sharpening angle between 15 to 20 degree depending on the type of knife". Whatever that means. ....depending on the knife? Really? Is it 15 degrees? 17.5 degrees? 20 degrees? Some of us need to know that for precision sharpening. But if you just need a fairly good guide, I like this one a lot.
