Carlos Palacios, Hello and thank you for your question. The difference between the is that the XR is more powerful than the regular 12V. The batteries are made to fit both the 12V max and the 12 XR. The only difference in batteries is the amount of Amps. Yes, they can be both used for the DEWALT laser.
