Issues resolved - see review
Update: If the firmware gets updated on the switch you have to re-run the dimming calibration. Also to set the brightness to the last state (which how it should work out of the box in my opinion) is under the smart control tab --> edit rule --> set the brightness or have it go to last state Once i got this sorted it is working exactly as expected and much faster than my old setup that had a separate motion sensor. Now I can recommend the product. old review: Does not work with TAPO app for control - can not set dimming. When triggered by motion it comes on at 100% brightness instead of last state. Dimming function works great but the motion sensor overrides it. Overall do not buy as you could get cheaper motion sensor with just on/off as the dimming does not work with motion sensor.

Low FOV, but Strong Sensor
Using these to replace old Lutron ones that broke down the PIR sensor cover, hoping these won't. Also has physical option to turn these on indefinitely or up to 6 hours, by double tapping switch. Other switches will make you go through app or turn off motion sensing, which this doesnt do. Old lutron switches had a wider field of view, or FOV, these don't. Kasa has a higher level sensitivity than Lutron, but the low FOV may hamper its usefulness in tight hallways, especially near entrances. Has four smart Daily timings, wish it allowed us to make up to 6 or more, but 4 is enough to accommodate to most daily routines. Unlike Lutron, Kasa does not have a faceplate backplate. It includes a faceplate, but a backplate for the faceplate would make installing the faceplate less of a headache due to the uneven wall surfaces sometimes. Unlike Lutron, no audible "click" to signal that the switch turned on or off, which is nice because moving from room to room feels more seamless now. Though some people might want that click. Nice to include the physical turn-on-indefinitely override feature, but there is no turn-off-indefinitely override feature, which is important sometimes when wanting to sleep. All in all, Kasa was an upgrade from Lutron for me. Light switches is one of the few I'm ok with keeping it online, but not cameras. The biggest downside for me was the limited activation cone field of view. Good for most rooms, but not good for a NYC entrance hallway with limited space. The other minor downside is no physical turn-off-indefinitely override. Can't complain as Kasa is one of the few competent smart switch makers.

Yes! Been wanting this for a while!
This switch was one I've been waiting for. I have a variety of of brands of smart switches and other devices in my house. I have some from some major brand sold in home stores. So far The Kasa - TPLink switches have been not only the most reliable, but by far have been the most affordable for a quality switch. This brand has become my favorite. This switch had a neutral wire. It installed very easily. It came with paper stickers to flag wires, if you are into that. I tried doing setup from memory. It almost worked. I was stuck in a state where I couldn't enter my house wifi credentials. So I deleted it from the Kasa app, and followed the instructions. It worked great. I set the minimum brightness for 1% and added it to my Alexa list, and to my kitchen group. I named it's type as a light, to keep it simpler for Alexa. It works perfectly! I highly recommend. Now I can ask Alexa to turn the light on if it times out. I have 12 LED's in my kitchen, and this switch controls only 4 of them. This way I have some light when I enter, and I can command the rest of the lights on if I want. Very happy. Very fair price.

Worst smart switch ever. Shame TP-link
While I’m extremely pleased with the TP-link Tapo products, there was not a Tapo Motion sensor Dimmer combo switch available so I decided to try this TP-link Kasa product. Let me say I could not be more disappointed and dissatisfied. DO NOT BUY. Installation was easy. Setup and configuration is where the problems start. To complete the setup the instructions say the Kasa app is required so I downloaded that and proceeded to add the device to the Kasa app. It almost completes but it says there’s a firmware update. No problem it’s never failed for Tapo updates Sure enough the firmware install failed but it said it would try again later. Even though the firmware update failed the device was added to Kasa. Next I wanted to test it by using the app to turn it on and off. I open the Kasa devices page and poof the device vanishes and I catch a quick message but all I could read was something about use Tapo app. Go to Tapo, add the device, says there’s no Firmware update available. I can use the Tapo app to turn it on and off. Now I’m excited because I can start setting up for the reason I bought the Kasa switch. I.E. at night if motion is detected then turn the light on dim to be easier on the eyes. Then setup another routine/smart action for daytime motion turn on full brightness. But no this switch makes it impossible. First when motion is detected it is contained within the switch rather than export it out to be usable in a smart action or in an Alexa routine. The device in the Tapo app does allow you to configure ONE yes ONLY ONE time range for motion detection. If they would just make it possible to add time ranges and allow users to use the motion detection events in routines. Then I would say this switch is usable and give it 5 stars.

yes, Yes, YES!!!
I've purchased many motion/occupancy sensors. A lot of them are crap. I've only had this one installed for a week, but I'm totally in on it. While it's a 'smart' dimmer and integrates with Alexa, you really won't care about that functionality. However, the 'smart' tech (Smart Control) that Kasa has integrated into this and it's app makes it absolutely fantastic. You can set periods during the day with differing brightness. For example, set it to only come on at 20% anytime between 10pm and 5am, or at 100% at all other times, or don't come on at all if there's ambient light. The motion sensor works great and allows multiple options for turning off when no motion is detected (ex. 10 sec.). Ramp rate for these automated settings is the same for all periods, but that's ok. It is the absolute perfect solution for bathrooms, laundry rooms, closets, etc. Anywhere an occupancy sensor will come in handy. I paired this with the Kasa HS200P3 to control the ceiling fan in the powder room and it looks/works great.

Hands Free!
This is the cool home automation device that started my TP-Link KASA Smart device fondness. I was looking for something that would sense human presence and light up key areas along the path so that we didn't have to bang into things trying to find the light switch. Along came the motion sensing light dimmer from TP-Link. It is easy to install, but does require the wiring of a neutral wire since it is electronic rather than a simple switch contact closure. Pairing it with the home WiFi network was easy, and it was up in no time. The cell app has the controls you want including, dimming, scheduling, timer, and more. At night I was able to set a low light level so that we don't get blinded with bright light when the light turns on from darkness. I also bought a 4 pack of wireless switches to control things that plug into an ordinary wall outlet. Then there came the plain wireless wall light switches for those times when we come home after dark, so that we can turn on the outside lights for safe passage to the home. And if that wasn't enough, they have RGB strip lights and ordinary RGB light bulbs. Those bring out the fun in wireless LED's! Once you have several of the devices wired and operational, you can form groups to turn on several of the individual devices together at the same time. And you don't have to be at home to control these things. The FREE account you create lets you remotely control all of your KASA devices from anywhere you have internet access.
