I gave this quality pen as a gift and it was well received!

This American made seems to be of high quality. The design is smooth and the pen fits easily in my Dickies Pocket T pocket's pen-slot. Pens with rubber cladding for better grip often do not fit in or get stuck in those pen-slots. The pen's body is not as heavily built as I'd hoped at this price-point, however the pen functions flawlessly - it is of the twist type. That is to say, one twists the upper portion of the pen to expose or retract the ball-point. The pen's tip is not a fine-point, rather it is about as 'thick,' apologies, I do not know the correct term, as a Bic biro, but rolls more smoothly than the cheaper Bic disposable ball-point pen. The pen's replaceable cartridge, if that is word I want, is accessed by pulling the pen's upper portion straight off. Finally, the pen's aesthetics are perfect for work or every-day carry. The blue is a deep and rich hue and the American flag is beautiful.Four not Five stars because the pen's body is not a heavy as I would have liked and ball-point cartridge is not as fine as I prefer. This makes a beautiful, less expensive presentation pen and I recommend it. I have been using mine every day since it arrived and I would have been glad for someone to have spent money in order to have presented it to me.

I purchased this pen because I’m a fan of Garland pens and I needed a new pen that wasn’t just a dollar-store Bic. The pen is incredible comfortable in my hand, and it writes smoothly. It’s a well made pen, I love it!

This is a quite nice looking pen. The blue color is perfect for my tastes, and the fit and finish look good, too. I'd say the weight is right about ideal. Some pens are too hefty and come too light, but this one should appeal to most writers. I do prefer a thicker barrel, but that is a personal preference. Flag is a nice touch, though the cover might be a bit more clear. Guessing it is plastic? Would like to see it made of glass if so. Also love that it is made in the USA!

This is a decent pen, the color is beautiful and the design on the bottom is a nice touch. It came in a pretty box for a gift. The writing element is consistent, but not the smoothest I have used. I have other traditional pens that I think write better and smoother than this one, which is why I didn't rate it higher.

Cool pen, solidly weighted, good glide:As a big fan of pens in general, this was a very cool item to get and I've been pretty happy with it so far. The pen looks very sleek and cool and does write well, as it's nicely weighted, solidly designed and comfortable to hold. The ink, when writing, is smooth but isn't as saturated as some other pens, and as a result doesn't smudge easily when writing, although I'd like to see just a fraction more ink come out when using. The pen is very comfortable to use, but I own some less expensive pens that have a slightly better feel to them, so the grip could use a small upgrade in terms of functionality. From an aesthetic perspective, though, this is a great pen and looks very nice on a desk.Overall, this is a cool product and I would recommend.

I love pens that have a slightly heavier feel. I like the feeling the weight in my hand and this pen does not disappoint. It's very reminiscent of a Parker pen. Other than the feel, it writes like a champ. It's very smooth and crisp. The American flag on the top is a nice touch.

This made in the USA writing instrument is a great addition to any pen collection. Garland is a well established (since 1927) company formerly in Coventry, Rhode Island, in an historic mill along the Pawtuxet River. Good Yankee ingenuity. The company has since been acquired by the Garwood NJ based Pen Company of America, and is the only company producing pens and markers exclusively in the US. This pen comes in a lovely gift box, and at the top is an American Flag. As a veteran, I’d say that any veteran or soldier currently serving would be pleased to own one. It is similar in overall design to the Parker Urban Chrome Trim ballpoint pen, perhaps a bit slimmer, like a Parker Jotter. It is royal blue with silver chrome. The clip is distinctive with the maker’s name engraved. The trend today is ugly clips, why I don’t know. The Garland is a twist pen and writes very well. The refill is similar to Cross, the kind where you screw it in place for a secure fit. It looks good in a shirt pocket. A winner.
