I usa this on our 2009 BMW and keep it in the vehicle in case of any check engine light issues. It also does most maintenance resets ect.A must have for BMW owners with DIY knowledge.

I have taken a car to the mechanic a handful of times in the almost 40 years of owning my own vehicles. I was trained as a diesel mechanic early in life and I work on every one of my own BMW/Mini brand vehicles from a 1973 to a 2014. I am a computer dude and have built my own ISTA laptop to diagnose my BMW's, so I believe it's fair to say I am a good judge of functionality and value of this little diagnostic computer. This CReader Launch is an EXCELLENT value and I recommend it to anyone who owns a BMW, or Mini Cooper vehicle. It is super easy to use, I update it regularly and I use it for a wide variety of jobs on multiple generations of vehicles. In fact, my ISTA laptop and Carly scanner would not work well with my 2003 Mini. Multiple other tools would not work either. This was the first non-BMW factory device that was actually compatible with the ECU of that first generation "new" Mini and it helped me diagnose an 02 sensor problem that was causing a smog fail. I used the scanner to clear adaptions so that the new sensors would read correctly and the car passed smog with no problems. This tool has performed diagnostics, coding and regular maintenance resets with no problems. I am totally comfortable recommending the CReader Launch line of scanners to anyone in need of a reliable tool that gets the job done well.

This scanner works well for OBD code reading, and many BMW specific functions. You cannot reprogram the ECM with this, but I was able to recode the radio module with it and also read codes from the 23+ modules in the E60. Doesn't have sophisticated functions like scanners costing $1k, but is worth the price.

I bought this specifically for a BMW, but if you want you can buy upgrades for other cars too. I did an upgrade for our Toyota and it worked great for that as well.Lots of functionality within the unit like reading the data from various sensors, bleeding the breaks, checking temperature reading at the radiator vs the engine, graphing live data target vs actual, activating various things (Lights, windows, a/c compressor, radio, radiator fan, water pump etc) to see if they are working/not working. Great for troubleshooting issues.It takes a while to figure out where to go to get the data you want to view or test but it can do a lot of stuff. More than just reading fault codes, you can activate and test things, read values, update service information etc. And if you want you can send an email report identifying any issues picked up from fault codes.Lastly you can click on fault codes and it will look them up on the internet to help elaborate or understand what they mean and help you troubleshoot the problem.The interface is slightly slow and you do need to have an internet connection for full functionality but I use my phone to tether for the internet which works fine. For the money and functionality this is hard to beat.

I PURCHSED THIS FOR MY SHOP, ITS OK, REALLY SLOW BUT GETS THE JOB DONE. MY 1 STAR REVIEW IS BECAUSE LAUNCH WILL NOT LET YOU PURCHASE MORE THAN 2 SOFTWARE PACKAGES IN 30DAYS. I PURCHASED THE PORSCHE AND GM PACKAGES EARLIER THIS MONTH, NOW I HAVE A MERCEDES IN THE SHOP AND I CANT PURCHASE THE MERCEDES PACKAGE BECAUSE OF THIS LIMITATION.WHY THE HECK WOULD A COMPANY LIMIT HOW MUCH MONEY I GIVE THEM? MAKES NO SENSE. UNITS SOLD ON AMAZON ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY LAUNCH USA, SO OVERSEAS CUSTOMER SERVICE... SO NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. IVE EMAILED THEM WITH NO RESPONSE. VERY VERY FRUSTRATING.

Could use a good update to help a unfamiliar user get around all its selections. Not worth the price in my opinion.

Needed an code reader and detailed diagnostic mini tablet for my Mini Cooper. This one is able to program the modules as well as reset batteries and other functions. It can do all of the items more expensive Autel units do, but at a fraction of the price. It will function just as an OBDII reader for other vehicles, but on BMW, MINI and Rolls Royce vehicles, you have full capabilities to do all of the options available. You can also buy extra vehicle modules if you'd like the same functionality for them as the three that come with the tablet - they are done as an in app purchase. Very pleased so far with this unit. It has exceeded my expectations!

Saved me thousands when BMW wanted to replace the turbo on a guys 535i. I bought the car cheap and used this tool to recalibrate the wastegate and now 2yr later I’m still driving that car and it just turned 200k miles. I also added Land Rover pack to it and did a similar thing with an LR4 that had multiple errors.
