A Decent Wireless Doorbell Option for Peace of Mind
Now, I'm all for keeping an eye on the doorstep, especially with the little ones running about. This Blink Video Doorbell does just the trick, and it doesn't need any wires, which is a bonus for those of us who aren't keen on DIY. Setting it up was fairly straightforward, though it took a few tries to get the hang of it. First, you pop in the batteries and connect the Sync Module 2 to your Wi-Fi. Then, you download the Blink app, create an account, and add the doorbell and module. The app guides you through the rest, which is basically scanning QR codes and following on-screen instructions. One thing that tripped me up at first was making sure both the doorbell and the module were on the same Wi-Fi network. Once I sorted that out, it was plain sailing. The picture quality is decent, even in the evenings. I can clearly see who's at the door, even if they're lurking in the shadows. The two-way talk feature is handy too – I can tell the postie where to leave a parcel, or have a quick chat with the neighbours without having to open the door. The motion detection is quite clever. It pings my phone whenever someone approaches the door, so I can have a peek even if they don't ring the bell. And the battery life is pretty good, especially with the Sync Module 2. That said, the Sync Module 2 is a bit of an extra expense. But it's worth it if you want to store your videos locally and get longer battery life out of your doorbell. Overall, this Blink Video Doorbell is a good shout for anyone who wants a simple, no-fuss wireless doorbell. It's easy enough to set up with a little patience, the picture's clear, and it does the job nicely. If you're not bothered about fancy features and just want a reliable doorbell camera, then this could be the one for you.

4.5 star product, great value, works well, audio is patchy.
Installed this after shopping around for a simple doorbell camera when my work shifts suddenly increased and I was concerned about missing deliveries. Pleased to say it was an excellent choice for the most part. Installation: very straightforward, just follow the instructions. I needed to drill a couple of holes in the wall to mount it. A template is provided for this. The screws and rawlplugs provided were quite rubbishy, so if you're not using the provided sticky pad, get some better replacements. Connected straight to the plug-in receiver, which instantly connected to our wi-fi. It's only ever dropped out once since installing over two months ago. I would very much recommend the slot-in 64Gb data stick for easy retrieval of doorbell recordings. Operation: I recommend setting your zones of detection carefully to reduce constant activation. I would guess many of the negative reviews about battery life are connected to not designating zones close to the door or driveways, as we have had no issues at all with functionality in nearly three months. The one real weakness of this system is the doorbell ringer. It rings loudly at the push button unit itself (outside) but unless you have your phone volume turned up, there's no other ring audio unless you have been able to connect it to an existing doorbell ring unit (we had no hardwired doorbell before). We got an Amazon Echo bundle with this Blink bell and it doesn't make a ringing noise either, it just announces "Somebody is at [unit name of your doorbell] - (and there's something else you need to do during setup if you're connecting to a speaker: rename your Blink bell to "Front Door" or something, otherwise Alexa will say "Somebody is at GXU-14726744533” which gets annoying fast!) I've found video access through the app happens within a few seconds, even when I've been using my phone on data in the USA four thousand miles away. I've been able to answer the door in America, Ireland and Portugal in the past few months. It's a great system. The daylight camera is very clear with a good wide angle (ours is slightly reduced due to the house structure) but the night camera is not great, picks up a lot of glare and is very short range, only clearly picking up people right outside the door (see pics above). But it's acceptable for everyday use. Unfortunately the audio is less reliable. I can generally speak to the person at the door, but I've often found the audio receiver constantly cuts out and I can barely hear their half of the conversation. They end up resorting to sign language half the time. But that's better than not being able to see them at all! Overall this is a very reasonable priced item which does the job required to a reasonable level. I'd definitely recommend it as a quick fix for a modern problem, but if you're looking for something more robust and with a better ring and audio system, maybe you need to spend a bit more on a different system.

Excellent Video Quality
The Blink video doorbell has the same or better features compared to other more expensive video doorbells with a fraction of the cost. Here are some of the pros and cons I found with it. Pros: No Monthly Subscription: You just need a sync module and USB pen drive (minimum 1Gb) for local storage. 1 GB can store hundreds of video clips of 30 seconds each. The sync module 2 can take up to 256Gb USB storage space which can store 1000s of video clips. Slim Design: The size of the blink doorbell is perfect for the side panel on the upvc doors or any other doors and the camera covers a very wide range of viewing. Detection Zone: The customization of inactive/active zones on this doorbell is much better than the ring doorbell. It has the advance option which shows tiny boxes to select the inactive zones individually compared to Ring Doorbell which gives you the option of a large square, rectangle or trapezium. To avoid false alerts/triggers from the reflection from inactive zone (car headlights) into the active zone, just reduce the sensitivity to 4 or less and it works like a charm. Battery: The battery life is so much better if you are saving the video clips on the sync module (locally). The battery will drain faster if the video clips are saved on the cloud (subscription). Blink gives out free trial subscription for the first 30 days and saves the video clips on the cloud by default. I cancelled my trial subscription on the first day and have been saving the clips on the sync module (locally) which uses less battery power. Any doorbell including Ring doorbell that syncs video clips to the cloud will drain their battery faster and will need recharging every couple of weeks or so, also depending on the active zone selection if it has a busier “motion trigger” traffic. Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi connection from the doorbell works great unless you have placed the doorbell near a Wi-Fi dead zone or near something that depletes the Wi-Fi signal. In my case, my no-drill mount (Wasserstein No Drill Mount) was depleting/killing the Wi-Fi signal/connection on the doorbell for some strange reason (maybe due to some elements on the mount). Decided to Isolate it and used the side wedge mount that came in the blink doorbell package and used a double-sided tape to affix it on the same spot and the Wi-Fi connection was back to normal. The live video now shows up on the echo show and the mobile app within 5 seconds of requesting it. It used to take a lot more time or mostly fail completely to show the live feed of the doorbell. Cons: Blink Chime: It is very difficult to find a compatible battery-operated wireless Chime for the blink doorbell. I decided to use my echo show and echo dot as the Chimes instead. Clip Duration: The maximum duration of the video clips is only 30 seconds. Hope that Blink increases the video clip duration to 60 seconds or more like the blink outdoor cameras in one of their firmware upgrades. Users can then choose to reduce the duration manually or select the “End Clip early if motion stops” option on the app. Bulk Delete: There is no option to bulk delete the saved video clips saved on the sync module unless done through a PC after attaching the USB to the PC. It would be good to have that option in the Blink app in the future firmware/app upgrades.

Product is not fit for purpose
If I could leave 0 stars I would. This product it appalling. It never records video with new batteries until you reset it 5 times. It needs resetting every few weeks. Batteries last a month or two at most. Doesn't take rechargeable batteries. The live preview takes minutes to load and when it starts showing it is about half a minute delayed. If you try and view clips on the sync module it says 'system is busy please wait'. It doesn't notify your app if someone is at the door. The sensitivity is either OTT and captures everything, or doesn't catch anything at all. Privacy zones don't actually work. Constant resets needed. No warnings when sync module is getting full, it will just one day stop recording. The app interface as with all things Amazon is counter intuitive and clunky. It's just terrible in every way, doesn't actually work consistently and is an absolute pain requiring complete reconfiguration a week after you finally get it working and they are clearly driving people to pay for the cloud subscription even if they have a sync module, I am finally going to replace it with something that works properly as I've had enough messing about

Better than Ring!
I’ve been using the Blink Video Doorbell with Sync Module 2 for a few months now, and it has completely exceeded my expectations for a budget-friendly smart doorbell. The ease of installation, reliable performance, and useful features make this a fantastic choice for anyone looking to add a layer of security to their home without breaking the bank. Here’s my breakdown: Pros: 1. Crystal-Clear Video & Two-Way Audio: The HD video quality is excellent for a doorbell in this price range. I can clearly see who’s at my door, day or night, and the two-way audio lets me easily communicate with visitors or delivery drivers. It’s great to be able to talk to people even when I’m not at home. 2. Motion Detection with Custom Alerts: The motion detection is highly sensitive, and I love that I can customize the sensitivity settings. It sends real-time alerts straight to my phone through the Blink app, so I’m always aware of any activity at my door. 3. Long-Lasting Battery Life: The battery life on this doorbell has been impressive. I was initially worried about having to recharge it frequently, but it’s been running strong for months with minimal power drain. It’s perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to worry about constantly charging their doorbell. 4. Simple Setup & Installation: Setting up the Blink Video Doorbell and Sync Module 2 was a breeze. I had it up and running within 15 minutes, and the app walks you through each step. The Sync Module helps store videos locally, which is great if you want to save your footage without needing a subscription. 5. Works Seamlessly with Alexa: Since it’s Alexa-compatible, I can pull up my doorbell feed on my Echo Show with just a voice command, which is super convenient. It’s also easy to integrate with other smart devices in my home for a seamless experience. Cons (Minor): • Requires Sync Module for Local Storage: If you want to save footage locally without a subscription, you’ll need the Sync Module, which fortunately is included in this package. However, if you’re hoping to use it without the module, be prepared to rely on cloud storage. • App Notifications Can Be Sensitive: The motion alerts are very responsive, which is great for security but can sometimes lead to frequent notifications. Adjusting the sensitivity helps, but it took some fine-tuning to get it right. Final Thoughts: The Blink Video Doorbell + Sync Module 2 is a fantastic option for anyone looking for a reliable, feature-packed doorbell at a reasonable price. With HD video, two-way audio, long battery life, and customizable motion detection, it covers all the essentials of home security. Add in the seamless Alexa integration, and it’s a great fit for any smart home. Overall, I’m thrilled with this purchase. It’s a powerful yet affordable security solution that’s easy to install and delivers on all fronts. I’d highly recommend it to anyone wanting peace of mind without the high costs of other video doorbells!

Works, but it has reliability concern for longer life
I chose the Blink doorbell mainly because it advertised support for local storage. Initially, it worked fine — I used a 16gb drive in a USB enclosure after cancelling the cloud subscription following the 30-day trial. However, after a few days, the storage often stops working, and I have to reconnect the drive to a PC or phone to re-enable it. The Sync module also goes offline occasionally, requiring a power cycle to get it working again. Weatherproofing is another concern. I’ve been careful when replacing the batteries to ensure everything is sealed correctly, but moisture has started getting inside, which makes the video quality unusable. Speaking of quality, it’s acceptable, but since the free subscription ended, loading times for live video after a notification are so slow that visitors are usually gone before I can see them. Overall, it’s functional but frustrating — it works well when it works, but the reliability and weather protection need improvement.

Good device price good too
I bought this Blink video doorbell to replace my old dumb doorbell. After loads of research this fitted my need the best. I wanted something that would send a message to my smartphone when I was using my noise cancelling headphones. The Blink product did not come with an indoor chime box which was a bit disappointing. I think you may be able to purchase a compatible indoor chime but I didn't research this. Blink say you can wire it to your old system but later I found my old system was not the right voltage. (My Fault) I managed to link the new doorbell to my smartphone and two Alexa units, one in the living room and one in the hall. I had a small problem with setting the volume which I couldn't solve myself. I contacted Blink support and got an immediate automated reply. To my surprise about two hours later I got a full reply which sorted the problem. Basically it was to Delete and reinstall the doorbell. This doorbell is one of the few that you can choose to have a cloud subscription or not. If you don't want the cloud service then you can buy their Sync 2 module into which you can plug a USB stick for recordings. I got my sync module in an Amazon deal with the doorbell. The doorbell will work on its own but you lose sum options without the sync module or the cloud. The video quality is not top of the range and is quite useable but I didn't want it for the video . It may be worth having some assistance in setting up the system but the Blink instructions and website are very good. So far I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it. UPDATE: The video on this doorbell is actually very good. I've had it for a week or so and am very pleased with it. Would well recommend it.

Alittle hidden information for first time buyers.
Only 4 stars as they is a few things to know that you wouldn’t know until you buy it. Blink is an amazing system but if you want to connect to your door bell chime you have make sure is has a transformer and is the right spec. On new build house most don’t have the right door bell chime. So budget for an extra £15-£20 on top. Most door camera door bells are the same including ring. If running on battery’s when they run low you loose connections. The last is it’s not 4k but the image is still really good. Overall amazing system and the best part is you don’t have pay for monthly subscription for storage and you can use a usb stick 120mb is recommended. The free app is really user friendly.
