Q: Does the practice chanter have a straight or conical bore ?

All practice chanters have a straight bore. So, this practice chanter does, too! (There are no practice chanters with conical bores.)

Q: Do the extended length chanters make the same pitch tones as the real pipes? i never understood why the standard chanters had different hole spacing.

Practice chanters are much quieter than the highland pipes. They have a straight bore (thin narrow bore like a piece of spaghetti). Highland pipe chanters have a conical bore (a cone shape that is narrow at the top and wider at the bottom). Highland pipe chanters use a cane reed that takes a lot more air and is much louder than the practice chanter. As a result, the holes on the Highland pipe chanter need to be larger. I hope that helps!
