You thought you knew Cthulhu ....
This is a stand-alone base game in the Munchkin line. It's fun to play, compatible with other Munchkin products, and has several well-done expansion packs. It matches the quality and humor I've come to expect from Munchkin, and it feeds right into my cultist-like fanboy appreciation of the Cthulhu Mythos.

Brilliant, fast, funny.
So I ordered this with 5 day minimum free shipping and I got it in two. THAT alone is fantastic. On top of that the actual product was perfect. Each card is a simple pun of some sort relating to HP Lovecrafts works. Its a brilliant addition for any table top collection and great for parties. Definitely check out the expansions though.

I H.P. Lovecraft this game!
This was one of the best versions of Munchkin that I have ever bought. Full of puns and Lovecraftian humor, this game is great for anyone blessed with the knowledge of HP Lovecraft's complete works.... which I am. If you haven't read a few of his short stories, a lot of the jokes might go right over your head.

Fun, but hard to learn
This is a pretty fun game, but definitely takes a couple of tries to learn properly. My family usually plays games together a couple time a week and this was too hard for us to learn as a slightly intoxicated group. We tried again the next day and caught on pretty quickly.

Great take on the Lovecraft mythos, but not for the Munchkin newbie
Munchkin Cthluhu is a standalone spin-off set of the fun "political strategy" card game. Having played and thoroughly enjoyed the original set (with several friends who have the base set, but not this one) I snatched this one up to add to the list of things we could play on a a game night. The core rules still apply here. Build a character, defeat monsters, level up, gather loot and watch your back. Some of the new rules were a bit confusing (or missed, in the case of the "goth" cards... I wish we'd seen that). Where the game shines is in being true to the core mechanics. Where it stumbles is in how it presents the rules to the user. For me, it might have been good to break the rules up into "core" and "expansion" and labeling them as such rather than trying to explain everything at once. The first playthrough was awkward, as we had to refer back to the rules sheet to figure out what to do (granted, we did blaze through the sheet presuming that we knew how to play this). The next playthroughs should be easier and faster and less awkward...and full of Goths ^_^

My favorite Munchkin set, so far!
Just had a chance to play this today. Compared to the original Munchkin, Zombies and Super Munchkin (Which is my least favorite set), this is the most fun I've had. Maybe it's because most of the group has gotten the rules down. Maybe it's because a couple of us wanted to love it. Maybe it's just that we had to correct a couple players pronunciation a bunch. Though it was probably just the balance of the cards in this set. I felt that there was enough fun stuff in it to where you could harm another player in fun ways without there being too much to cause any real angst amongst the players. The addition of the Cultist rules were fun and added an extra way to win and cheese everybody off. Definitely looking forward to playing with the other expansions for Cthulhu Munchkin. (We did get to play with 4, because we all liked the idea of the Dungeons, but didn't add 2 or 3 due to there being new players and we didn't want to add too many new rules too soon.)

Surprisingly great.
Such a surprise inside of fun role playing cards. Not necessarily a fan of the artwork but I eventually got used to the humor in it. Even though it doesn't stand out on the shelf at the stores this game is a real treat.

Munchkin + Great Old Ones = Fun and Nostalgia
I love HP Lovecraft and so when I saw there was a Munchkin dedicated to summoning the Great Old Ones, I bought this. As usual, the cards are high quality, funny and a lot of fun the more people that play. If you're a fan of Munchkin and the Cthulhu mythos, definitely grab this set!
