Well, I can't get a good rhythm because on some pages it'll use "under the moon, under the moon, under the Ramadan moon" and others only "under the Ramadan moon". I don't know, I can't explain it well, but I've used song-like reading for my daughter for almost all her books and that has helped her develop interest in Islamic and other books. This one was hard to do the same with. That said, the book has grown on me. It has a good sequence of events (the start of the Ramadan moon, and the moon indicating end of Ramadan, and everything in between) and teaches good morals to the children like giving charity and being kind etc. My daughter likes looking at it because the art is fabulous. She loves the mother/daughter swing picture, the owl in the tree, the people praying in the mosque, the daughter baking,...etc, etc. The only one page she can't identify with the picture is where the teen is cleaning up his room (fixing bad habits); she keeps saying "making a mess!!" Review: Cute - I was searching for bilingual Arabic books to give to my friends with small children as gifts, however this one (being English only) was too cute to pass up! It shows what Muslims do in Ramadan as friends and family in a community. You can feel the same glow from this book as you feel during Ramadan. Love it :) Cant wait to give this book. Simple easy reading, full page illustrations, good book.

Beautifully simple for the non-Muslim family!
With all the anti-Muslim hatred in the world, I was looking for a way to introduce Muslim-positive concepts to my toddlers. We're not a religious family. I believe in teaching my children tolerance and curiosity towards all people and faiths. This book was perfect. I love the simple concepts and the repetition. My children enjoy the illustrations of the moon, the swing, the animals... The book does not assume the reader is Muslim or that the reader will be celebrating Ramadan. Some of the illustrations depict women wearing a hijab and some do not. I wanted to introduce my children to different types of religious clothing. This book will be a great springboard for future conversations about religion, respect and difference. This would be a wonderful book for school and childcare libraries as well as storybook collections of families from all different faiths and religious perspectives.

A GREAT WAY TO INTRODUCE RAMADAN TO YOUNG CHILDREN
This is a wonderful book to teach the ways in which Muslim families might spend time during Ramadan. It's very simple and easy for young children of any faith or culture to understand and relate to. A great book for introducing young children to other religious views. They can see the similarities (celebrating with family, attending religious services, sharing a meal) and the differences between themselves and the family in the book.

Cute!
Purchased this to read to a group of preschoolers to introduce the concept of Ramadan during he holidays. The children were quite receptive and the repetitive phrases in the book was wonderful for the age group. This book beautifully touches on Ramadan without presenting a ridiculous amount of detail that preschoolers couldn't relate to. Great book and cute illustrations.

This is a beautifully illustrated book
This is a beautifully illustrated book, but I felt like the weird receptiveness of "under the moon, under the moon, under the Ramadan moon" on some pages and just "under the Ramadan moon" on other pages was odd. I'm not sure I'd gift this to others for that reason. It's still a pretty book, but not a 5* Ramadan book by any means. I also noted one page has the men and women praying along the same lines -- which was a bit odd considering we don't typically do that so maybe poorly researched? I hate to be nit-picky but I think other books are far better.

Great and easy read!
I got this book when my son was 3, and now he's 5, and we still read it. It's a great book to read in Ramadan and throughout the year. It's a very short and easy read, and my son is always sad when it's done and asks me to read it again and again :) Great book for little people.

Great for little ones
This is a great book for ages 0-6 I'd say. It's very simple & lyrical. My daughter took it to share w/ her (non-Muslim) kindergarten class & the teacher loved it so much we bought her a copy to add to her classroom library.
