Potassium iodide protects your thyroid against radiation poisoning so I got a couple of boxes Justin case something bad happens the shelf life is good and it will make your pee turn purple just one of the side effects but talk to your doctor before take it like like I said I got it just for just in case couple of bottles in the bomb shelter won't hurt
