CRC Thermocure Coolant System Rust Remover, 32 Oz, Rust Remover for Vehicle Cooling Systems, Removes Rust Scale and Deposits

Did a really good job flushing out my cooling system. Gross how much crap came out after running this... I drove around for about 3 hours over the course of 2ish days, then flushed it out. I had to flush 6-8 times to get the water completely clear. I've since refilled with my normal coolant mixture and haven't seen any evidence of rust since doing the CRC flush half a year ago.

I have a 30-year-old VW motorhome that I am improving mechanically.The original coolant looked like it was contaminated with rust and visually removing the hoses revealed that indeed rust was in the cooling system, on the inside of the hoses and engine. Rust consists of particles that can flow through the cooling system. This can prematurely damage your water pump and even the engine.Last year I tried flushing and flushing the cooling system with plain water but this did not do much as the rust basically remained. I installed some universal coolant but it quickly became contaminated with rust also.This year I decided to try this product out since youtube videos showed me good results.I removed my thermostat and flushed my cooling system a couple of times with just plain water. I examined the thermostat cover, engine block and radiator hose which all still showed signs of rust.I then installed this clear product with plain water from my garden hose, drove my MH for about 45 minutes, then let this solution sit for 48 hours. I was a little timid about letting this product sit too long in the cooling system.I drained out the system and what came out was some very dark, almost black, liquid. I even took off my expansion bottle and swished this solution around the tank to remove the rust that had stuck to the bottle and the cap the rinsed it with my garden hose.Then I used my garden hose, removed different hoses and flushed out the radiator, heater cores and engine block multiple times until the liquid came out clean. I blew out the system with low pressure compressed air and did a last flush by putting my hoses back on and running the engine with only distilled water.I did notice a massive reduction of the rust inside the hoses and the engine so this stuff works!I again removed the hoses, blew out the system, reinstalled the thermostat, pressure tested the system using air & soapy water around the thermostat cover before I refilled it with violet/pink color VW coolant and distilled water.The first photo shows the rusty liquid, the next photo is of the used dark Thermocure solution and then a couple photos of the subsequent flushes. The last photo is the new VW coolant in the bottle.I am very pleased with the results!BTW I also saved the old solution to strain & use either another rusty cooling system or my rusty nuts/bolts.

I have an older low mileage van where it appears that the cooling system just didn't get the regular attention a van with more miles and use might. This thing was probably stored for long periods of time. When I first bought it, it appeared to run hot at higher speeds but after some diagnostics the thermostat was determined to be the culprit. I looked into the radiator and it was an ugly rust brown mess. Several normal, no chemical additive flushes later the running hot problem still existed. At this point changing the thermostat probably helps but the corrosion in the cooling fluid, while it can be drained out, corrosion and scale would still be present on the heat exchange surfaces in the engine block, radiator and likely the now gunked up thermostat. Changing the thermostat without first treating the inner surfaces of the cooling system would only partially solve the problem. In this particular model of engine, a thermostat swap would also be a 3-5 hour ordeal - expensive. Enter Thermocure, and here are the caveats. Use it as directed but know that you will have to do more flushes to totally clean out the Thermocure. I did 6-7 post-Thermocure process before I started seeing clear water. What this stuff get out of your compromised cooling system is miraculous. On maintenance issues if I'm told to do it every 5000 miles, I do it every 3k. That's just me. I did the Thermocure flush twice, I used two containers, flushed a total of probably 10 times in all. But the interior of the cooling system is far cleaner, the van runs nice and cool, tak w longer to come up to operating temperature, and you can physically see the thermostat, now cleaned out, coming in and out depending on the stress applied to the engine. Before you use it, understand your vehicle's Hester core and why you have to run the heat in order to fully flush out your system. This stuff WORKS but know that you should probably take an extra step or two to get the best out of it. Simply adding some and draining the solution is only going part of the way. Add Thermocure, run engine for several hours, leave it in a few days, flush out solution, repeat, repeat several more times, repeat a couple more times in the interest of being thorough. This stuff works well and has saved me hundreds of dollars.
