From the author of the bestselling Care & Keeping of You series! This book will provide you with the answers that will help you take care of yourself better, from hair care to healthy eating, bad breath to shaving, acne to voice changes, and everything in between. With tips, how-tos, and facts from a real pediatrician, it's the perfect book to help you learn about your body's changes. Review: Age appropriate, easy read - After kids of research for the right intro to puberty book for or 10 year old, we landed in this one. The author writes in a way that is easy to read and relatable to boys that age. It does not come across preachy or condescending, but more like a big brother or trusted friend who's talking to them. I didn't feel like it went into too much detail about things he's not ready for yet. And everything was written in a simple, chill, matter-of-fact way. We are super open and had already discussed some of this with our son as well as how babies are made etc. We have always answered questions as they come, as well as checking with him to see if he had any questions in our regular conversations. So a lot of this wasn't completely new to him. However it got through to him better than we could. When your mom and dad say it's important to put your deodorant on and shower everyday, kids probably feel like it's just another naggy thing parents want you to do. But when they read it in a book or a cool big brother figure tells them and even explains it (likely just as the parents had), it clicks in their brain. My son stopped fighting us on the daily shower after reading this and he is taking better care of his skin. I'm glad we purchased this one! It's an awesome and helpful book that I wish was around for my brothers! Review: Helps alot - It’s a great book, helps answer questions easily. Says it a way to help him understand. Just need to get him to read it.

Great book for young boys.
This book will definitely help to teach young boys the growing up stages of life. This helped open the door for the important questions my son had. I would recommend this book to anyone that has a son that is a little uncomfortable talking about these things.

Good for a preteen
This book has fun and good illustrations and touches on just about all the basics without getting too heavy into the details. It's a good book to read with your son and then let him keep for his own reference in the future. I would say this is good for boys as young as 9 because it's very light reading. Other books I have gotten were just too dense and much better for older boys who are in throws of puberty and need/want more information and details. This is a good starter/beginner book for younger audiences.

All the information my 10 yo needs to know at this age, IMO
I ordered this for my 10 year old son. I smelled BO on him for the first time the other day and knew it was time to start having SOME discussions. I read all of this book before giving it to him. It is a very matter of fact approach about hygiene, a boy’s body and the changes that are sure to come over the next few years. This is a great first level book about male puberty; other than stating that a girl’s body changes too, it does not discuss female puberty. It also does not discuss intercourse. This is exactly what I was looking for at this point in terms of what I feel is appropriate at this age and for my son.

Amazing book for relevant, meaningful information written in a fun, easy manner.
This is not the first "body book" I bought for my sons, but it's the first one I kept and wanted to read myself. - If you have a kid with poor hygiene and you want to provide a resource for EVERY aspect, including how to safely clean intact penises, this book is excellent. - If your son is about to go through puberty and you want a book to explain the weird, awkward experiences of possessing a penis (nighttime ejaculations, involuntary erections, etc) without going into all the details of sex, this book is amazing. - If you want to educate a new mother on what the heck their son will be going through and facing as he grows up, this book is amazing. - If you want to teach girls on why their male classmates are suddenly super-awkward in many respects when they approach puberty, this book is amazing. Both of my boys (10yo and 7yo) have read significant portions of it already without complaint, and they retained enough that they talked about various things they learned with me after the fact. My kids are outliers for reading ability, so I cannot speak to whether other kids their age could do the same, but it is an interesting and well-written book for those comfortable with reading. This book is amazing.

But once I handed it over and he saw how cool the illustrations are he was hooked
My 8 year old loves this book!! I told him it was coming and of course he wasn't excited about having to read a book about his body. But once I handed it over and he saw how cool the illustrations are he was hooked. There's so much information, a lot of which we have told our kids over and over in hopes that they will listen: Eat healthy, shower, brush your teeth ect. It's good to have a book that explains why these things are important as well as hit on topics some may not think to talk about with their son's: Body sizes, mood changes, emotions and that it's okay to cry. This book also makes sure to let your kids know it's GOOD to ask questions and encourages open communication. There is a paragraph that covers circumcision as well as illustrations on how the penis grows throughout puberty. I do wish they had done illustrations to show the difference between uncirumsized and circumsized penises so the reader could better understand the difference. But other than that this book goes above and beyond what I expected!!

Great resource
This book was recommended to me by a nurse friend as a wonderful resource for boys entering puberty. My daughter has the other American Girl puberty books and really liked that they were tailored just for her and that she could read about a sensitive subject in the comfort of her own home as more schools are teaching this as co-ed subject now. I imagine my son will feel the same and we are excited to dig in. The seller was also wonderful and timely.

This is by far the best book for boys and i have read a lot of them. I have recommended and purchased it for friends who have boys!! The way they talk about all things is so to the point but in a really relatable way and with the times. It was able to start conversations in ways my really connected with. Highly high recommended

All those embarrassing questions you never dared to ask
My nearly 12 years old son noticed a recent change when he was taking his shower, but felt very embarrassed to discuss it with me. When the book came in, he took it to his room and read it from front cover to back immediately. It describes puberty and body hygiene in a very matter-of-fact way, with simple and easy words, and funny illustrations. He felt much relieved after that, and it opened the discussion between us. He has been re-reading some parts of it, and even showed it to his best friend. As a result he has asked me to do a few changes in his hygiene routine, and I am very happy that he is decided to take good care of his own body. Very definitely recommend it.
