The Bureau: Season 3

Chapeau bas
The deliberately slow moving series explores the world of the DGSE, the French intelligence/counterintelligence agency, but is also a tragic love story. The slow pace doesn't preclude a constant flow of tense and gripping moments. Writing, acting, directing, editing, audio, set design - all aspects of production - are top notch. The story is believable, the characters have complex, multidimensional personalities. The atmosphere effectively fluctuates from high-tech mundane to exotically stylish, to downright gritty.People who like John Le Carré should enjoy "The Bureau", but so will "24 h" fans if they can accept the less flashy and action-oriented tone.Entertaining, sometimes genuinely interesting and in the end, moving, this is probably the best French TV Series ever made, certainly the best I've ever seen. An instant TV-classic and a must-see for viewers who enjoy good television.PS: "Chapeau Bas" means "Hats off" in French :)

Gripping,intelligent, and relevant
This is an outstanding series -- based on the edited, true accounts of French intelligence agents which have been grafted onto current events. The acting is excellent, the pace is tense, and the suspense is taut. I give it my highest recommendation for intelligent, compelling viewing. It is in French with subtitles.

Authentic and riveting!
One of the best spy stories ever developed for television. Features a sense of authenticity that so many other productions miss. Well worth watching. Incredibly relevant to unfolding events in today's Mideast.

A French Noir-Espionage Treat
Never write reviews, but this gem is worth a few words. This immersive series is a noir espionage blend. Extremely well written and acted without histrionics or glorification of violence. As other European series of this genre pace is slower with attention to details of character and narrative development while the tension is subtle and psychological. Moreover, the complexities of contemporary Middle Eastern politics and culture is captured in ways not seen in the US. The downside of a European series of this caliber is that like a fine wine the bar gets raised and the other stuff just doesn't go down as well.

Superb thriller
Kept us on the edge of our seats throughout. The entire series, seasons 1-3, is superb, with season 2 even better than seasons 1 and 3. The Bureau requires viewers' close attention, as the plot is not explained and spelled out in as much detail as the typical American production.

Season 3 is a Masterpiece!
Hi, I was unimpressed with Season 1. Season 2 was better but Season 3 is a home run. One of the best "realistic" spy dramas out there. Since Homeland Season 6 dropped the ball this is the best show of it's kind out there. I guess I should watch less sports. :-)

Still going strong . . .
This series may have fallen off a little with Season 3, but not much. Still compelling. Still better than anything on US network television. But I guess that's not saying a whole lot, is it?

Not as good as season 1 and 2.
The writers started running out of ideas this season and resorted to gratuitous violence instead of intricate plot.

Berware of using this supplier
I purchased a dvd from movie-mars that I was unable to play on my dvd player. There was nothing in the ad to suggest that it was unsuitable for region 2. They have refused a refund even though the product is not fit for purpose ,stating that I had not complained soon enough. Pathetic

Careful - Region 1 only
Could not play it on my DVD which is in UK Region 2. I don't recall this being flagged up to me but I clearly have a UK address.

This does not play in the UK or Europe
When I bought this it was not marked as not suitable for UK use. It now has a note next to it which was not there before. No-one would buy it if they had read the note. I am now having to go through a complicated process to return it. Not worth any stars but the form would not submit without one.
