It really works on deer!, BUT BE SURE TO USE LOW SETTING!
Frustrated with smelly and expensive sprays that always seemed to wash away after rain, and leave our hostas exposed as salad to the deer, we decided to try an electronic alternative. We purchased one of these single speaker units, and also one of the double speaker units. After a year, I can say they are truly effective. No deer invasions, and no devoured hostas! We just purchased one more of each to protect the front yard as it was recently attacked.A couple tips:L, M, and H on the unit are NOT volume. They are frequency! For deer, be sure to use the LOW setting as instructed (large animals are sensitive to lower frequencies. I suspect some of the users who report they are not effective on deer think they should set it on HIGH, thinking this setting represents volume! HIGH WILL NOT WORK ON DEER BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF THEIR HEARING RANGE!!!You may find as we did that young children and some young adults hold their ears when the walk by, because they can hear very high frequencies! (For us older adults, we can only hear a soft clicking which is not objectionable). If this a a problem, just turn the units off when the kids come over, but be sure you remember to turn them on again when they leave so you don't have a deer salad bar!All things considered this has been a wonderful improvement over smelly, inconvenient and unreliable spray repellents, and we expect the two new units to be just as successful.Kudos to the designers for this novel solution!

Absolutely useless for repelling rabbits
I bought this product for one specific purpose: to repel rabbits that are damaging our lawn. My review only really pertains to rabbits so if that's not your issue skip to the next one.I have tried placing the sensor at several different points in our yard, facing east, south, and west. I have had the sensitivity turned up to max since I started using it. I know it's working because it will sense me walking around from 20 feet away. However, it is completely blind to rabbits. I have only seen a rabbit activate it once and the rabbit was not bothered by the noise. It did twitch it's ears a little bit but since the device only goes off for about 4 seconds, the rabbit just waited it out and went about its business.See picture below. I was to the point where I was trying so hard to get the device to activate that I put it right in the middle of the lawn where the rabbits like to graze. As you can see in the picture, there is a rabbit about 3-4 ft away. I actually startled it a little when I went to take the picture. Prior to taking the picture it was about 1-2 ft away. The rabbit is clearly in the sensors field of vision but the device never activated. Unfortunately for my purposes it is completely useless.

Perfect.
I have several of these and they work very well. No issues or complaints. I have reviewed my home cameras and after dark the animals arrive. It scared a coyote away one night, so I know it works well. Javalinas don't respond to it but they are a bit tougher to scare away in general. Haven't seen any other animals, but I do see the light come on several times a night. I think it responds to movement that I cannot see.I recommend this and I will continue using this.

Better than the other solar powered pest control out there
UPDATE 8/5/18I discovered that while doing yard work and listening to my itunes (via iPhone and bluetooth earbuds), that the Hoont will interfere with the bluetooth signal momentarily (when I pass in front and activate).I needed something to keep cats and deer away. I am using a spray product, but that is futility as rain cancels its protection (and the smell), with flowers and such.I've tried another electronic device but it failed after three months. I found this Hoont here on Amazon, and after reading other reviews picked up a few. They worked pretty well. So I bought a few more. Well, I now have a front and backyard populated with 7 of these...its electronic warfare on the deer, skunks and feral cats.I am giving this product 4 star only because I don't know how effective it is (I also spray Bobbex). In places I have plants the deer would chisel-off flowering buds, I've placed this set to Large Animal. I know it works because when I pass by, OW! Its like a high-pitch squeal. I sometimes forget until I am mowing and OW! Ok. Works on me! But so far, the places I have put the Hoont (funny name, someone needs better marketing), the flowers weren't eaten. One thing, it works on neighbors too (seems my nextdoor neighbor doesn't like the noise when she is walking up my driveway instead of hers).Bonus; if you want to keep deer and people still sensitive to high frequencies off your flowers...just remember to bring these in for the winter.

Seems to work, kind of
The package didn’t have screws mentioned to attach the box to the stake, but so far the sub I used has worked with it being stuck in a flower pot since I don’t have a yard.Goal is to deter squirrels from my balcony who have been pushing the birds out of the feeders, without negatively impacting birds or my neighbors (noise). It helps some, still have squirrels, but it does seem to impact their approach. I think I need to buy at least one more, possibly two, to cover the access points, with the price point hoping one more will do the trick. Hoping that if I do that it will also help with chipmunks as summer comes on.Another plus, it hasn’t deterred the larger birds that I like. It’s practically silent and that feature was hard to find but necessary due to multidwelling building. Con, if it gets triggered a lot, I start to feel/hear it when sitting in the room with the balcony. My pets definitely notice too.
