Raises the flame jet to vessel bottom distance for improved efficiency
The original cross stand 1 did not provide what is considered an optimal distance from the jets of the Evernew Ti stove to the cook vessel bottom. This version 2 raises this distance by 1/2". The Evernew has lower jets and upper jets separated by 1/2", so the original version placed the vessel at 1" from the lower jets, and 1/2" from the upper; so version 2 places the vessel at 1-1/2" and 1", providing more efficient Denatured Alcohol heating. Also, the original cross stand 1 when used with the Trangia burner designs, only provided a far less effective 1/2" distance, while cross stand 2 provides a 1" distance from the Trangia jets to the vessel bottom with improved results. The cross-stands are stable. Although the version 2 no longer straddles the upper jet ridge of the burner, with its interlocking arms and Titanium strength it provides adequate strength and stability.

About the right height
I have both the Evernew Ti Stove Cross Stand and this Evernew Ti Stove Cross Stand 2. The first version is shorter than the "2" version. Through experimentation I discovered that 1.25 inches is the distance I need between the bottom of the pot and top of the alcohol stove for boiling water quickly without soot (here at sea level). From what I read this is referred to as "the sweet spot" and it works good for both a 550 ml pot and a quart pot. The "2" stand provides 1 1/16 inches of distance while the other stand is shorter and provides 9/16 in. So clearly, for me, the "2" stand works better. Both cross stands sit equally well on both the Evernew Ti alco stove and my brass Trangia alco stove.

Trangia Triangle and Trangia Alcohol Burner
The cross support is a perfect fit on the burner. It supports undersized cups/pots at almost exactly the same height as the supports on the Trangia Triangle and works well with the alcohol burner. It doesn't fit the Trangia gas burner It can be made to work with solid fuel with a support plate and a pan the legs of the cross can straddle. Over all 1 great, 1 good, and 1 no go.

Efficiency Plus
The added height vs the old windscreen is a plus while a loss in stability is a minor minus. Now Evernew has three choices for their exceptional little alcohol stove. With the ease of getting canisters on the trail the use of alcohol stoves is dwindling (along with the fact of Californias [sort-of] ban on nenatured fuel). I use alcohol stoves for four day or shorter trips. They are fun to use for the techy fiddle-factor users. This stand adds to the fun!

Little too shaky
I’m returning this tall item for the original shorter cross stand made by this same manufacturer. This item seems a little too tall pots and pans may tip over too easy . Item I received is warped /bent . Not so good . The stamping of the item in the factory doesn’t look so great either . This thing is way too wobbly for me .

Lightweight
I use it regularly. Has good height above flame. Works great.

Just right
Holds the pot at just the right height above the stove. Seems kind of flimsy until put together, which increases its rigidity.

Optimal height to work with Trangia style stoves
If your using a Trangia style stove this stand will put your pot at the optimal height for the stove flames. The original stand design still works great for the Evernew stove since the primary flame jets are lower. I highly recommend this stand over the original Evernew stand. This one might be less stable than the original design with heavy pots but it allows for easier lighting because it doesn't block the jets.
