Will it work Virtual DJ 8

It actually is configured to work with VDJ if you have their pro license. Their specific instructions for set up of the DJ 505 are well documented on the Virtual DJ website.

Can i use the 505 as a standalone drum machine with a setup that includes a sequencer that is not the tr-s?

The DJ-505 will send MIDI clock and start/stop data from the port. So if the instrument has a sequencer that can accept that information, then yes...you would be able to sync that instrument and use the DJ-505 as a standalone drum machine.

Has Roland fixed the issues where the platters stop responding with a manufactoring fix?

I have problems with the controller but I try but no one answer me
