Can use to prevent opening vertically!
I’m posting this review because I had to return another brand after they wouldn’t work for my application…. these types of locks are typically advertised for windows that slide open (side to side), which is great but my windows are typical home windows that open up/down. You CAN use this brand’s locks to prevent these kind of regular windows from opening! This is great for ensuring that the window cannot be opened more than a certain amount- ie: I want fresh air to come in but don’t want the window to be able to be opened enough that a person could climb in. This gives me more peace of mind when opening the windows and leaving the room (or when opening them a crack while sleeping) ! You need one lock for each side of the window (so 2 locks total per window and double windows would need 4) This bulk pack was perfect to do all the windows I needed throughout my home & was much cheaper than buying 2 or 4 packs carried in my local hardware store. Very happy with this purchase!

Absolutely works
It works on any window that has a sliding track be it vertical or horizontal. Need to be pushed a bit to get it to bite the track, place wherever you want it and just tighten the key. Because you can leave the key in it, it takes only couple seconds to move it around so you can open it close the window to your desired length. No need to be going around to get the key or maybe losing it amongst all the windows

Must put right up against sliding window
This product does work…if you put it right against the sliding window without any gaps.I was hoping I could put it about 2” away so I could still crack my window when and if I needed to, but it doesn’t work that way. It must be right against sliding window to work.

Window lock
These did not work at all. They did not fit as described in the listing, therefore provided no security and was frustrating to try to install. Would not recommend these.

They need a piece of rubber and are for older style windows now newer. They did work
