Great light, but not a lot of holsters advertise ...
Great light, but not a lot of holsters advertise compatibility specifically to the TLR-3. Because of the square projection on the bottom, this light will NOT fit into holsters designed to hold a pistol with Streamlight's TLR-1. Fortunately, it can fit into holsters designed for larger lights, like Safariland's 6230 series.

Great light for a reasonable price
I just wanted a flashlight for my pistol, but most now come with a laser as well so the options are limited. I don't really like lasers, and they tend to add bulk to the light which I don't want. This is one of the nicer middle-of-the-road lights available. Anything cheaper is likely intended as decoration or for airsoft, anything more expensive tends to be a lot more expensive. I bought this light for use on my 1911 with a Recover Tactical grip system. The grips basically add a small rail section just under the barrel allowing for the mounting of a light or laser. This light mounted nicely and does not protrude beyond the barrel. It does not fit snugly to the trigger guard, but the set up on my 1911 is not typical and the manufacturer can't be expected to account for every type of rail possible. That said, it is securely attached and the controls are accessible when in use with my pistol. there is a 1/4" gap between the light and trigger guard, I can live with it. The Recover 1911 system comes with a holster that can accommodate a light, and this fits in there nicely. It is reasonably easy to holster and draw, which was a major factor for me. The controls work well and are easy to operate and access. The light itself is bright without being too bright. I did an experiment where I turn off my lights at night and sat in the dark for a while so my eyes would adjust, then turned this light on. It was bright but did not blind me, but seems bright enough that anyone on the other end would not be able to say the same. I haven't had the chance to fire any rounds with it attached, however it seems very well made so I feel confident it will be fine. I'll update this review should I prove to be wrong. I am very happy with the purchase, it functions very well and I didn't need to forgo a car payment to be able to afford it. Update: I've fired 250 rounds through my 1911 with the light installed, it is still perfectly functional and did not lose its grip on the rail at all. I'm very happy with this purchase

Good to go!
I don't normally write reviews, but I had to on this one, as I am impressed. I installed this light on a Glock 21, and it was much more than I expected. Installation was a snap (just follow the instructions), and over tightening was not necessary. The light is solid and secure with just finger tight. It's bright, easy to operate, and not bulky or obtrusive in any way. I will be hitting the range this next week, and I will update after I've put few hundred rounds through my weapon... Update 01/06/2015: Went to the range this past weekend (for us the range is the Mojave Desert). First, I must say that this light in no way affected accuracy or performance of the weapon. Manageability of the weapon was exactly as before. I still think the flashlight is a fantastic piece of equipment, but after 300 rounds of .45 ACP through my Glock 21, I have two things to point out. 1. The screw did work about a 1/4 turn loose after 300 rounds. Not a big deal, considering the fact that if I get into a firefight that requires that many rounds, I'm probably in deep pucky, and would switch to a heavier weapon. That being what it is, I just re-tightened the screw that 1/4 turn. If it concerns you, just put a dab of locktite 242, and you're good. 2. After 300 rounds, the lens was really dirty from powder residue, and greatly reduced the illumination. Again, not a problem, just something to consider if you plan on getting into an extended firefight in low light conditions (not probable). To me, neither one of these was even an issue, and would be something I would expect on any weapon mounted light system. In no way do they change my 5 star rating.
