Expensive but reliable
I use these with a custom Zigbee setup not with Hive directly. They are very reliable in terms of connection and performance. The battery lasts a fair time, 3-6 months with regular triggers. Seems stable on Zigbee and doesn't drop out like similar products from other brands. Looks quite pleasant too especially when fitted into a corner, blends in well.Seems to trigger well but does get triggered by our cats which was expected. Attaching it to the wall is easy and they seem sticky and strong enough to not fall off, some I've had up a few years. Not to big but holds a better size battery so worth the additional size to allow longer times between changing.

Works well with other Hive products
This sensor requires a hub this is ok if you already invested in the hive eco system otherwise you'd have to fork out £70+ for the hub. You can use it to get peace of mind when you are out of your house. Use this on your door or window, it detects windows and door opening, so if its opened when you're not in you get a notification straight away on your smartphone.Set up and instructions is very easy and straight forward especially if you already have Hive. installation on your door or window is also very easy, the sensor comes with sticky pads, making the install very clean and simple. Whilst the app could be a lot better, it is very simple and easy to use.Through the app you can set up automation/routines and you can also set up the Hive Door sensor to be used with other Hive integrated products like the Hive smart plug, motion sensor, camera and light bulbs. You can check the status of your door or window and look up activity over the last 24 hours for free or pay £5 a month to look up the last 30 days.A few reviews complain about connection issues and battery life but I haven't had any such issues. I have the latest wireless Hive 360 hub, the hub itself has on the odd occasion gone offline for some strange reason, but that's an issue with the hub not the sensor. I've been using the sensor for just over a year and it's battery indicator on the Hive app shows the battery is still full which is great.I like this sensor, it's reasonably priced and works fairly well as a security device, however I can only really recommend it if you're already locked into the Hive eco system, that way you'd get the most out of it. Hope this was helpful.

Quick set up and easy to use
The Hive range of products are well built and reliable, the sensor is simple to add through the app and quick to configure routines to include other Hive products such as lightbulbs. I have this set up so when I open the front door between certain times it turns on the lights in the lounge.Works well and would recommend if you require a quick way of triggering simple routines to integrate other Hive products.

Picks cats up no problem 😛
Doesn't quite do what it says on the tinMy cats set it off😛On a plus side it isn't as sensitive as the regular motion sensorThere are no mounting instructions i.e. portrait or landscapeI googled it and it didn't seem to matterI use my sensor to control stair lighting hence the landscape mountingApart from that it's fineThe battery cover is very stiff compared with the regular sensor

Useless. 1 star is too generous!
For about 3 weeks, my hive system was fully functional and awesome - then all of a sudden it just plummeted downhill. The set up I have includes the thermostat and hub, 2 plugs, 2 coloured bulbs and 3 white bulbs, 2 motion sensors and 2 window/ door sensors - all hooked up through my echo; and while none of it is perfect, the sensors are the absolute worst. After the three weeks that everything worked well for, all sensors failed - not simultaneously, but certainly within 2 days of each other. I assumed it was the batteries so changed them all - nope. I tried resetting them - nope. I tried uninstalling the app, hard resetting the hub, completely dismantling the entire system and starting again - nope. Months on now and despite a flashing led to let me know they're still uselessly alive, not one of them works. Now I used my sensors to control my lights (at night turning them on/ off when entering rooms/ leaving or entering the home etc), so its just an inconvenience, waste of money and disappointment for me - but if you used or wanted to use them for home security, you would be furious.I'm actually furious I'm not in a minority of people experiencing this issue it seems.Aside from the garbage sensors, the only part of Hive that hasn't (yet) caused me any issues in the year I've had it is the thermostat. Everything else has at some point either died, glitched or gone wrong, and the app is the just biggest pile of floop. Its complicated, unfriendly and actually limits the functionality of the smart equipment. These are expensive (i.e. overpriced) items, and hive is part of a corporate giant, so I would expect so much more - yet it runs like a beta version of someone's college electronics project: basically if this was really early on or something a smart kid had out together, you'd be like "sure its shaky but its amazing when you think about it!" - But this has been developed and out for a LONG time now, so for the system to be in this unreliable state is a disgrace. And as for these sensors - I've never used such an utterly pointless and disappointing piece of tech.My only advice can be to avoid like the plague and look at nest or one of the other home hub suppliers.
