Great images - great value
Great images from both photos and video. The only drawback for some is the lack of 4k recording, but the full HD recording is excellent and only noticeable to the highest examination. If you're doing professional video work, then it might be worth spending upwards of £1000 more for 4k - or look at other cameras from Sony. However, when it comes to 'normal' photography, the performance is on a par (and in some situations exceeds) that of the 6d MkII which costs twice as much. 7fps in RAW is quick enough for all but the most demanding professional. The touchscreen is excellent and really useful being able to flip the screen. Great value and still a great performer. Spend the savings on lenses. That's where you'll get most benefit from improving images!!

from my very first Canon A-1 on which learned how to take a great photograph and loved to use
I have uses SLR's for more years than I care to remember, from my very first Canon A-1 on which learned how to take a great photograph and loved to use, then onto various different cameras over the years and now to this brilliant EOS 80D. The Camera is everything I wished for and the best camera I have ever used. Combining the technology from the latest phones to the quality workmanship of Canon cameras this Camera is amazing. I have already taken some impressive photos, which I sent to my phone and shared with my friends seconds after taking. The controls are very easy to navigate, using the big touch screen. Can't recommend this Camera highly enough. I did purchase David Busch's guide, which helps understand the details of this great camera. Photo taken today. Love it.

Initial impressions good - let down by Canon skimping on the basic accessories!
Having been a Canon camera abuser for over 40 years I waited expectantly for the arrival of my purchase. Initially very pleased with my new camera which after a couple of years ogling the various models was purchased as an upgrade from my EOS350D.One niggle, given that this costs over £1000, I think Canon could have included the necessary HDMI & USB cables with the camera. Cost price to Canon would be less than 50p (amongst other things I buy Chinese cables in my profession), frustration to customer, very high!! Fortunately I have a cheap Toshiba video camera which DID come with HDMI & USB cables (at 15%of the Canon price). Shame on you Canon!!Impressions after two days are positive. Pictures taken so far appear to be of high quality and at over 24mp you can appear to zoom for ever before pixellation occurs. I like the new Canon online tutorials tailored to the specific camera. The iPhone apps are functional and connect easily to iPhone & iPad so, finally for me, electronic transfer on the fly is at last here! Now its a doddle to review pictures on my iPad within minutes of taking them. Two small niggles; why have they taken Bluetooth away when it was in the previous model, and why, at this price, cant they put GPS location in the camera like they have in so many cheaper products.

The Best Camera So Far That I've Owned
Wow, Just Wow this camera is perfect. I'm not a professional I'm an amateur who wanted to upgrade from a non-DLSR.This camera takes some fantastic pictures with minimal effort using the Auto function. I'm now getting used to this camera, and I've started to experiment with manual settings. The key things that stand out for me are:-Interchangeable lensAwesome Video auto functionDecent battery lifeGreat screen that's able to flip so if you are looking at the camera head-on you can see if you are in the shot. What I don't like:-Weight if travellingthat's it, one very, very good camera perfect for pictures but also excellent for video.

Upgrade to Canon EOS 80D from 70D.
Improved on the 70D in quality of still photographs; sharper than with the 70D, although I was impressed by the 70D when I bought it - and still am (I've kept it as a backup as the 80D uses the lens and many other bits that I've bought). Noticeably better with the technically improved and more professional capability of the 80D when using the camera to take shots of subjects in motion in both still and video mode. The improvements to the various functions available are well worth while, and noticeable. The quibble about the lack of 4K doesn't bother me at all - I don't have a 4K television..! Overall, I am very pleased with the camera.

Amazing camera!
I previously had a Canon 700d and fancied an upgrade. I love my 700d but theres a massive difference with this. The low light performance is outstanding, what a difference. I am extremely happy with the Canon 80d. The same handy flip out screen for the low or high shots is great. A nice little feature is the multiple exposure which I've been playing with, it might be a gimmick but I like it.

Looking for a mid-range DSLR for film and photography? Buy this camera.
Probably the best money I've ever spent. This camera packs one hell of a punch. Amazing focus for video and film, and very responsive for photography. The 45 points of AF are incredible for shooting video and keeping the target in focus, and the touch screen means you can alter the focus point on the fly, brilliant for cinematic shots.A massive ISO means it's great in most light conditions, and shooting at 60FPS makes for great viewing.Wireless and NFC for instant transfer to mobile devices is another brilliant feature, allowing you to upload that great shot in seconds. Looking for a mid-range DSLR for film and photography? Buy this camera.
