Polar Lights Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Snap Together Model Kit

This kit is alright but takes a bit of work to get a really good result. It's been simplified so it can snap together. This is especially true with the roof rack. There are some areas where it's missing details a lot of car builders will be used to: the headlights are moulded features of the front and rear, the interior is mainly one piece and there are no opening doors or bonnet. I did loads of extra work like fully painting the model, making some custom decals for all the warning notices (which makes a BIG difference) and replacing the chunky plastic ariels with lengths of guitar string. If you put this sort of effort in, you can get a really nice looking display piece. I'm quite happy with the end result.

I bought this back in August 2018, forgot I had it and then found it again. It really is a ‘click and fit’ model, a bit like an old airfix kit.I’m guessing airfix kits must have been far, far better quality. The various components are numbered and the instructions seem ok. The biggest single problem is the poor quality: when you remove items such as the spotlights from the plastic frame that holds them, there is always - always - excess plastic, which means the component won’t actually fit into the slot. Finger nails, old credit cards, nail files or sandpaper required.Obviously it’s too late for me to get a refund but this product isn’t worth more than £5 - and even then would be disappointing as it still isn’t really fit for purpose. If you want a better quality model to assemble I’d recommend you buy a Kinder Egg.

This is really good quality and easy to construct with no glue and only a couple of essential screws. Shame the colours are not as on the box but good decals and we'll made.

This is a model kit , so obviously it needs building and painting to obtain a finished vehicle.It's not a toy,but a construction kit. Enjoy.

Everything is white if you want the product to look like on the box it will take alot of time money and skill as parts are small and fiddley

I don’t know whether mine was a dodgy kit but not a one piece with a peg on it matched the hole made for it. Mine was flimsy at best and some of the pegs didn’t just snap but crumbled under minimal force when trying to attach them. And yes I did read the instructions. Seriously doubt I will be trying another one of these kits, was a ball ache from start to finish and I build a lot of things as a hobby. Should be called a snap off kit and not an “easy snap on”
