Review: SUPERMAN DOOMSDAY - OUTSTANDING ANIMATED FILM - This is by far one of the best animated movies i have seen for a long time...The close proximatey to the original comic script is brilliant..The fight scenes are brutal and a bit bloodthirsty in places, but leave you wanting more...Using Alex Baldwin as the voice of Superman is pure chemistry, well suited and delivered perfectly....Excellent rendition of a very controvertial storyline in the world of DC....A Film you need to have in your DC collection...10/10 Superman - Doomsday [DVD ] Review: Five Stars - Another great item from musicMagpie!

Really good adaptation
I guess if you're a long term reader of Superman you'll wonder how they manage to condense the events of the hige Doomsday arc into a 75 minute film. Well, they drop a lot but let me, without spoiling too much say that they keep the best aspects. They drop the "Four Supermen" replacements idea completely but that's understandable, there's just not enough time here to tell the extended story. What story there is is tight, and it's self contained enough that someone with only a basic understanding of Superman will be OK to watch this without worrying about getting lost. The voice cast is strong and the animation is as you'd expect from Bruce Timm's DCAU very Fleischer and very iconic. I think this, at the current price of only three pounds, is a bargain and a half - snap it up and enjoy one of the better animated Superhero titles. Oh, there are great bonus features too including a full length commentary and interviews with the cast and crew.

Amazing
One of my favourite animated comic book movies of all time, right up there with Batman: Under the Red Hood. This product took ages to arrive though, but that was due to postal issues. Arrived in mint conditon. Marvellous.

Not one of the best but has some great ideas and moments
As someone who hasn't read the comic this film is based on, I came to it fresh, my knowledge of Superman is limited to that of the movies. The story barrels along at a brisk pace and the first act containing the death of Superman does suffer from not having enough time devoted to it, weakening the emotional impact such a momentous event should have. It seems the makers of this movie are concerned more with Superman beating things up in epic fights (suitably epic, bloody and city smashing) than the emotional journey. However, when it does pause the fighting to explore some themes and ideas they work well, be it if Superman is above the law, or if his softness on criminals ultimately costs lives. These are briefly explored but not nearly enough time is devoted to it. However this film does have an ace up its sleeve: Lex Luthor as voiced by James Masters. This is the greatest incarnation of Lex Luthor I have ever seen. James Masters brings to the role the perfect balance of extreme intelligence and ego whilst creating a slight sexual tension between Lex and Superman that works so well. This in my opinion is the definitive version of Lex Luthor and the scenes involving this character are the best in the film. The other characters don't fare so well, although they try to make Superman more believable and fallible, he still comes across as the boy scout too good and naive to be true (or believable). Lois Lane is sexualized to a ridiculously curvy extent (understandable in a sexual character such as Catwoman, but Lois is a career woman, a serious journalist who got where she is through brains and a strong independence, not just eye candy in the shortest skirt imaginable). Special features are brilliant (as they often are on DC animated films) a 45 minute making of is the highlight with interviews with all the people you'd expect who know there stuff and filled with great and classic images from the comics. This is not one of the best DC Animated movies (Under the Red Hood, and Batman:Year One hold that title in my opinion) but its certainly not one of the worst either. The problem is not that it's bad, it moves at such a pace that you're constantly entertained and never bored, but that if they'd slowed down, explored some of the themes and relationships deeper it could well have been one of the greatest Superman films ever. Worth buying for Lex Luthor and a brilliant cameo from someone involved in the Superman franchise (that will either go straight over your head or make you howl with laughter) this is a three and a half star movie where good editing, visuals and some interesting ideas help make up for its emotional and story flaws.

El mundo de DC Comic es demasiado desconocido, cada película de dibujos que veo de Batman o Superman me convence de ello. Es buenísima, la recomiendo.
