Prestige Wicker Igloo Pet Carrier Basket House, Large

I wanted a basket that would also function as a nice bed for my cat. Having memories of trying to stuff an angry cat into the old fashioned wire carriers, I thought it would be nice to aclimatise a cat to a carrier at all times.I'm surprised by reviews of others stating it's not sturdy. Maybe it's because my cat is only young and quite light, but it seemed very much sturdy to me. The handle is twisted and grafted right into the mesh of the wicker so I can't imagine it coming out in any way, as it's part of the fabric of the construction.The front is secured by a hook on one end, and then a small catch on the other end that you push into the holding ring, and pop a wooden peg to keep it secure. It seems perfectly secure to me and I can't envision a cat managing to squeeze out top or bottom as it's sturdily pushed right up to the edge. If your cat gets out of this, you can't be watching him much!The cushion inside came as a nice surprise to as it's lovely quality and I hadn't realised it was included. It's thick and squashy and seems very comfy. In fact my boyfriend kept remarking that he was jealous of the cat and wished he had a human size carrier to use as a bed because it looks so cosy.As for cleaning, I can agree this wouldn't be easy to clean being wicker so if your cat is prone to car sickness or soiling himself from fear I'd probably go with a plastic one.The only other thing I would say is the size isn't huge. The "large" is suitable for a normal size adult cat. If you have a big bruiser of a tom, go for the XL. The picture included is of my 6 month old kitten who is a bit lanky but not very large, for size comparison. When he is fully grown (if he grows to a normal size) this will be fine for him but if he ends up being large I would think I'd have to upgrade.

My elderly cat is at the vets more often than either of us would like & his previous wicker basket disintegrated from old age so I replaced it with this one. It looks lovely - it's regularly complimented in the vet's waiting room! - but, far more importantly, my cat loves it. He's never been one for sleeping in baskets/ cat beds (although he's had plenty of chances), but when this arrived I sat it on the floor of the spare room where he frequently sleeps, just so he could sniff around it. I was stunned when I went in later to find him curled up asleep in it, & he regularly sleeps in it now, night & day. It comes with a deep, squishy cushion & the grille removes completely, so it's then just an igloo. When the grille is in place, it's hooked in on one side & is held with a wooden peg on the other. The curve of the igloo means there's tension in the grille, so there's no way a cat could release it. Mine doesn't want to anyway; he curls up & goes to sleep while I queue! I find also that I can fit my hand in between the bars of the grille if I want to stroke him. Excellent cat carrier & cat bed combined. : )

The size is great fit for my sphynx and she loves it, however, it got a few sharp bits inside which were not very safe and needed trimming. It's a bit wonky but I'd expect that from wicker, it actually looks adorable when its not that perfect. The cushion inside is very soft and good quality. Only disappointment is that I have ordered design with the darker circle around and it came in one colour, still happy with the purchase.

After buying a few of the plastic types which always fell apart and the clips would come off I wanted to depart from having to secure my cat cage with duct tape and bungee clips! I couldn't find a wicker one in any pet shops locally-they all stopped getting them in apparently due to the fact they cannot be washed like plastic or metal. This is a lovely design and keeps my cat safe and warm with a nice viewing area. Complete with a comfy cushion. The fastening is a little fiddly but nothing that concerns me and if it broke it seems to be something which would be repairable. This is indeed the nicest one I could find and I just wish I had not wasted my money on the other rubbish of the plastic variety! !00% happy with this and that is rare for me!

Recently got a kitten, she’s 9 weeks old and absolutely loves her igloo. It’s absolutely massive for her which is perfect as we can put a hot water bottle overnight in there for her and there is still plenty of room for extra blankets! It carries perfectly and is super strong (we’ve carried it with the hot water bottle in and it copes with the extra weight fine). Additionally, she loves climbing and playing with it in the day too. A 2-in-1 bed and cat toy!! Only problem for now is she can squeeze through the door when travelling and escape- but we bought this for life and it’s perfect for when she gets bigger. Thanks so much for a good quality and beautiful product, looks great in our home!

Nice quality and looks lovely in my living room. Both kittens sleep in it daily as well as using it as a launchpad to leap up on cupboards and the telly of course. The cushion is nice and thick. I used it to collect and transport them but wouldn’t use it without a car as it’s a bit bulky to carry more than a few metres. The grille was sturdy and easy to attach. Very handy and it will be easy to Get them in there and attach the grille when the time comes to go to the vet.

Brilliant, was unsure about spending the extra money on a wicker one but this not only looks good but the at will actually get in of his own accord. The cushion is a great addition. One piece of advice would be to perhaps get a bigger size if you have a larger cat, ours is quite small and fits in amply, but maybe not for a bigger Tom.
