Comfy out of the box.
I normally take a size 10 in shoes and boots but was not comfortable with going the recommended 1 size up. I chose the 10.5. The fit is perfect. Enough room to allow a medium thickness hiking sock to be worn. Or with the laces pulled tighter on the loops a thinner sock can be worn. These are the most comfortable, easily adjustable hiking shoes I have ever owned. Over 55 years I have had many shoes and boots for outdoor wear. The materials used look robust and well put together. Even the diagonal reinforcing has extra cushioning. The Toe protection is good for a reasonably light hiking shoe. The Vibram sole adding to this at both Toe and Heel. The laces seem fine to me but you do need to double bow them.During my first walk I found the front part of my Foot sliding about in them. I stopped and pulled the laces in tighter on the lower 3 loops and that cured the issue. Normally my feet sweat in trainer type shoes but even wearing wool socks on a warm day my feet stayed comfortable and dry.Obviously these are not waterproof and I no longer buy waterproof footwear. My feet get much to warm. I now prefer to wear a pair of Merino or Alpaca wool socks and put up with damp non smelly footwear that dries much faster.Doubt I will by any other make from now on.

100% All round walking shoe
Won't consider anyother walking shoes.100% for comfort.100% grip in all weather's.100% value for money.I've probably been whareing Merralls in excess of 10 years.I whare them everyday whatever I'm doing as the are the zenith on mega comfort. They are more acceptable footwear than boots if going out anywhere as in everyday life.Do yourself a massive favour and invest in the best walking shoes that money can buy.Tip.Because there is a sizing issue.Go to any high street store that sells Merralls.Take your usual walking socks with you.Find the size your happy with and buy them on here for approx 50% less than any high street store.Cons.Waterproof is OK however could be better.Need to be more waterproof but once you've put a can of waterproof spray on that usually does the job. However it is recommended to do this 2/3 times a year depending how offen you use them.100% thoughally recommended.Don't consider anything else.Gets my 100% vote of approval.

Excellent walking shoe - but not waterproof
Have had these six months now and wear them most days when walking the dog. They are very comfortable. I am a size nine but wear two pairs of socks with these. No signs of visible wear. The only reason for four stars is they advertise these as waterproof which they are definitely not. Even with waterproof treatment your feet will get wet even through long wet grass. For everything else they have been an excellent buy.

Bliss comfort.
First of all I never owned a pair of merrel shoes before but I have been using other known brands in the past. I'm so happy I found them on Amazon. These merrel walking shoes are the most comfortable shoes I have tried in a very long time. They are very durable and not too heavy shoe. Very well made pair of shoes and sturdy for those long walks. After a day on my feet my feet don't ache or become painful through the day wearing them. The materials of the shoe it self are made of high quality and well put together. These shoes are just snug on your feet but they do take some time to break in.Looking for a sturdy well built walking shoe try these out they are worth every penny.

Light and wide hybrid shoe/trainer
These were lighter than I expected - which was good. The padding at the heel and below the ankle is soft and thick. The sole itself could be a bit softer - but its comfortable enough for general walks and undemanding hikes. I like the fact that the shoes are wide and there are no pinch points either to the sides, or on the top of the foot. The area under the arch is quite high - which feels a bit strange at first, but as soon as you start walking, your foot moulds over the arch and you don't notice it anymore. I bought half a size bigger to ensure I can wear thick socks. Overall, these are fairly straight forward, no nonsense hybrid shoes/trainers. I even wear them to work on some days - just because I enjoy the comfort level that comes with them. They are chunky enough to feel well protected on long hikes and treks - yet they are still light/thin enough to drive your car in.

The size dilemma, free returns
Due to the sizing issues with this shoe, my best advice is to obtain a good deal with free returns. I happily paid £63 on Amazon with free returns 😊I have wide feet and usually take a size 9UK in Clarks, Asics & Brooks. Buying shoes online tends to be hit & miss, especially with having wide feet. After reading other reviews of the Merrell Moab 2 Vent, my best guess was a 9.5UK.For the first 1000 steps around the house I found the left shoe perfect and the right a bit nippy around the toes. After a first 10k walk, mostly on pavements, I've experienced the same, although the tighter right shoe seems to be loosening up. Most importantly, I don't have any blisters and overall I loved my first walk in these. Like others have mentioned, the shoes are very stable and grippy. They are also extremely comfortable. From my first experience, I suggest going a half size up if wearing trainer socks and going for short walks and a full size up for thicker socks and long walks.Free returns is essential unless you are confident about your size.

Good For Large, Wide Feet
I have size 14 feet and these have been the best fitting shoe I have owned. I've had them around a year now and they aren't showing any sign of wear. They are well ventilated for summer conditions so be aware this means they are not waterproof. If you avoid the puddles they're still fine for winter use. They are quite light but feel robust in construction. The only negative is the laces need a double knot or they will come undone as you're walking. Not much of a problem to me.
