(Ash Colour) Use on Yellow not Orange tones!
There is nothing wrong with this product, only incredibly bad marketing.... the Purple (Ash) version is sold as a solution for unwanted Orange tones... the Blue version is said to remove unwanted Yellow tones.... these claims are 100% the wrong way around... ask any hairdresser, Yellow is counteracted by purple... orange is counteracted by Blue.... Scott Cornwall has this all about face! Okay when I saw the product and read the instructions I was all for sending this back (not that these products are allowed to be returned) ... but as the reviews said it left hair conditioned and soft, I gave it a go before dumping it in the drawer with my other mistake purchases. The reason I wasnt happy before using it, was nowhere at all on item or instructions did it mention getting rid of yellow... but in the listing it clearly showed males and females with the dreaded yellow hair and then the afters with very ashy hair the listing also mention orange and yellow removal. Anyway my hair was turning yellow following a very light ash blonde dye a month ago. I followed instructions... other than I left it on close to an hour 😊.... the fairly dark purple mask went on easily and within seconds had deposited the colour, when I combed it through I could see the mask on my comb and it was pure white. So there is some magic going on here, and the stuff really does work... though I don't get why it says again and again that it's for orange correction... any hair dresser will tell you, Blue counteracts orange... Purple sorts out yellow, and this product is definitely PURPLE! Maybe this is why there are so many negative reviews.... it's actually much better for use on Yellow tones! I liked the smell, pleasant to use, still have loads left in the tube... I'm really happy with the results Update: be careful to apply this evenly as the hair instantly grabs the pigments... so if you put it all in one place and then distribute it through your hair, the place you applied it too will be more pigmented than the areas you worked it through to.

Doesn’t lift brassy tones as advertised
Useless on brassy/orange/ warm tones. May work for removing yellowing, but did absolutely nothing for “brassy” tones as advertised

Hair mask
This is a great mask and the colour is exactly as it states it comes out.

Not quite what I expected....but not rubbish....
I picked this stuff because it claims to work on brunette bases and (based on the colour "before" and "after" pictures in the packaging/listing) seems to be appropriate for my slightly orange-y areas. So...did it work. Well, yes...and no... Background...my hair has been comprehensively trashed. I'm growing out blonde highlights, so I've got some natural pale brown/dark blonde roots (with silver bits in) and reddish brown ends. I'd had the ends dyed brown to match the roots, and it was a great match but faded instantly on the first wash, and then I got miserable and tried to get rid of the last of the brown dye with colour remover, which left me with this weird reddish brown (maybe the tiniest hit of dark blonde) ends. It was a big ask to get any product to do anything really. But...the colour of my ends did match what was on the box so I was hopeful. However....what I got was not what I expected. If I'm honest, what actually happened was that I ended up with MORE reddish bits, however, in a more even way, so even the roots seem to have picked up a pale auburnish sort of tint. My hair also seemed really nice and soft and in pretty good condition. Is it what I expected? No, absolutely not. Is it what was advertised? Nope. Do I like it? Yup. It's a bit of a surprise but not an unpleasant one. I do like the colour my hair now is, under artificial light...a sort of light brown meets dark blonde meets pale auburn. Heck. I might even carry on using this stuff.

Great toner
Great for bleached hair that is yellowing. Restores the grey. Easy to use

Not 100% convinced but…
I think it does a good job, but I haven’t compared it to anything else to track brassiness. It feels like whatever I do, my hair will always go warm/brassy! However, this toner does make my hair feel very soft and manageable so it definitely gets extra points for that, and for being easy to use and to wash off skin/bathroom tiles!

Didn't do anything for me
Note: I have naturally dark blonde hair which I recently had highlighted. The hairdresser put lighter blonde highlights through and a "brown" dye painted on in-between to cover my grey. Not sure what went wrong but some of my highlights are ginger. She only used one colour shade for the highlights so don't understand why some are a nice blonde and some are ginger. So I bought this and used it. Did nothing for me the 1st time, I had used a small amount as instructed so thought I hadn't used enough. 2nd time I used lots, about 1/3 of the tube but still it has done nothing. I'm maybe using completely the wrong product but I'm not brave enough to use an actual professional toner.

Wow. A Miracle!
I used "Cool Ash" Ever since I have had to dye my hair (*ahem* a few years now), I have had the problem of it being orangey/red. I am naturally light brown but every light brown or dark blonde on the market turns my hair red (even though I always buy "Ash" colours). It has become absolutely infuriating and I own ever purple shampoo and conditioner on the market. These products have helped tone it down a touch, but not enough to stop me hating my hair. I thought I would give this product a go and I am so unbelievably happy! It says leave on for 20 minutes the first time, and I did, but the very second it went on I could see the colour looked better instantly. It had a lot of warnings about mess and purple staining so I did it in the bath. I was pleasantly surprised when no mess occurred and my hair ran clear when rinsing straight away! I think my hair had been dying for this purple colour and just absorbed it all! When wet I could see the brassiness had gone and I hairdried it eagerly. I was not disappointed. My hair was a wonderful, light, brown, ash colour. Almost like my original hair colour. I was in shock (I know it sounds melodramatic), but I had almost given up on having nice hair again. I wish I had done a before and after picture but I did not expect the results to be this amazing. If I had one criticism it would be that it's not permanent. It washes out after a while, but you can top it up with a 2 minute applications. Which I will be doing. As a new user I'm not sure how long it will last but I just had to write a review whilst I felt passionate. Obviously I recommend. I'm not affiliated in any way with this product, despite the glowing review. I just want other brassy browns to be cured like I have been!
