Ring Automotive RSC508 12V 2/4/6/8A Smart Charger

I bought two, they are easy to use, and does the job it promised. Just press the desulphur button, then walk away. Check a few hours later, the charger will go through all its cycles, from desulphur, to discharge, and then to fully charge. one of my batteries was showing 90% charged after the first cycle, so I put it through the desulphur cycle again, and this time it showed 100% charged. It also charges in the traditional way, I have left them charging while the car were in storage, the float charge safely keep the the batteries always ready for use. The chargers have automatic cooling fans built in, to look after the charger, even in very warm conditions. One of the best products I have ever purchased. I fully recommend.

With the most appalling owners manual I have encountered . No explanation of when to use the reconditioning function and a search on the Ring website did not help either. Has a fan for cooling which is not mentioned either and when it first ran I had no idea what was happening . My charger is one of many similar models which all have different functions and one inadequate manual to cover all is not acceptable . Ring, please rectify this .

Purchased this to charge an AGM battery only to find the charger started to charge at 15.8v for no reason.The fan is also very noisy.I contacted RING customer support who were not very helpful and come over as if they can hardly be bothered to speak to you.They agreed to look into the issue and call me back which they never did.Amazon accepted the return as a faulty item and gave a full refunded including return postage costs.Once again excellent service from Amazon but will never buy another ring product.

I bought this to look after the leisure batteries on my narrowboat and chose it for price and because it has a good LED display. It's good value and does its job well. What the product description doesn't mention is the fan that cuts in and out whilst charging, which is noisy and annoying in a small space. Nor does it come with a wall-fixing bracket (available separately), although it was fairly easy to make one. More product info would have been helpful.

Bought this a couple of years ago, but only used it successfully about three times before it started playing up.Now it will not charge anything, with the display showing zero amps on all settings, and the volts just showing the battery voltage.As other reviewers have stated it is VERY noisy when on the higher amp settings.Save your money and spend 5-10% more on a CTEK CTE-MXS5.0 5A 12V Car Battery Charger - far superior.

Overall satisfied with this product - it did exactly what I bought it for. However, the user manual is not quite clear and at times misleading. From the manual, it may seem that there are different LEDs (with different colors) for "charging" and "charged" stages. In reality, the same green LED is used, but it is blinking during the charging process, and is lit steadily when the battery is charged (and FUL is shown on the indicator). But aside from that, my 70Ah battery (while kept connected to the car) got charged in about 3 hours from less than 60% to 100%. The fan started from time to time, but it did not bother me as I was coming to check the process from time to time only. In one word - looks like it's a good product, glad I've bought it.

I really like this!My new Citroen has some of the most complicated electronics I've encountered on a vehicle. If you disconnect the battery, you can't just simply reconnect it - there's a sequence to follow to reinitialise the onboard computer involving winding windows down etc etc - yuk!With this charger, you can charge the battery whilst leaving it connected - brilliant! No damage to the car's electronics.As I said in the title, best battery charger I've ever owned!The little battery powered LED is a waste of time, but you can forget about that.

wifes car does only short runs now & it is a deisel , i know kills it. i use it for long runs on business if i do not need much equipment to italian tune it up. ring charger keeps the expensive replacement battery for this car fully charged up. (i know a bit about batterys as i have installed solar power systems & batterys get killed very easily on this type of system if not properly fully charged at times ). Any way just leave on for 24 hours at least, sounds daft you have to trust it. charge the wifes car every month in the winter & mine every 2 months. how do you fully charge a car battery not with the alternator unless you drive from london to scotland every week. fully charge a car battery with a smart charger & extend the life of battery a lot, & will start engine when you need it most on a very cold day after sitting for a few days
