MaybellineTurbo Volum' Express Mascara Black 10ml

I really like this mascara and this is the second time I have bought it on line. It is not too dark for me as I am fair skinned and it does not blotch or run. I definitely recommend it.

Great colour and no clumping a must have

I usually use Model Co Lash Extend or Clinique High Impact mascara, and this Maybelline product doesn't measure up to the results of either of these mascaras, but then, to be fair, it is a lot cheaper. As a budget, everyday black mascara it works well. My lashes looked defined but natural, and it stayed put all day, with minimal slippage onto my face. The issue with this product is the way it's advertised; while good for a daytime look, I didn't find that it delivered the dramatic difference implied by the 'Volum' Express Turbo' tagline. When I tried to apply additional coats to strengthen the look, my lashes ended up looking spiky. I think the issue is with the brush; its bristles are very stumpy compared to the Model Co or Clinique brushes, and so it doesn't comb through the lashes as effectively. I have to admit I'm not a fan of the Maybelline branding (Volum'? Why?) or the barrel-like mascara tube they've always favoured. It reminds me of being a teenager (which is probably when I last used a Maybelline product). However, as a cheap buy, this is fine.

Why 4 stars if it doesn't deliver turbo volume of 7x your natural lashes? If we were to ignore this being part of the ridiculously named 'volum' express' brand of Maybelline, this would be a really good day to day mascara that I would rank as far superior to their much lauded (though personally I never got on with) Great Lash mascara.A gentle formulation for even sensitive eyes (my eyes have got watery and sensitive to my usual mascara whilst pregnant) and gives lovely glossy finish without clumping or looking like I've got a spider on my eyelids.The brush is a skinny classic bristle brush (old fashioned bristly bristles not plastic spikes) which I much appreciate as I've poked myself in the eyeball several times trying to get right to the root with the new plastic styles! Unfortunately it does mean you can get a bit on your upper lids if you're not careful but overall it's a nice brush to give a defined look without looking like falsies or caked on.I would definitely repurchase this as a day to day mascara but for high impact volume, I would look elsewhere.

Maybellines Turbo Volum' Express mascara comes in a nice and chunky black container which is perfectly shaped for holding during application. The brush is straight and the mascara applies well without clumping and also washes off reasonably easily. The colour is nice and definitive and for the price this is a really good mascara and one I'd consider purchasing in the future. I only needed a couple of coats for the effect I like and it still didn't clump on the second coat so I'm quite impressed. It doesn't give up to 5x volume as per it's claims and it took me two coats to get the effect and volume that I like although this is a good and very reasonably priced mascara at the time of writing this review and it hasn't clumped on any of the applications I have done thus far.
