Very easy. Switch your water off. You shouyld have a means to do this near your small water tank which is probably in your loft. Drain your system. Just a hose pipe on the drain taps on probably two of your downstairs rads. pop the F3 in your small tank in the loft and turn the water back o. remember to close ther rad draining taps first. You'll need to let the air out of your rads (bleed) when you drain and refill your system. Keep it in for a week and then drain the system to remove sludge. When you refill for the second time add F1 and leave it in. E.ON told me i needed a powerflush to sort out my boiler problems (£400) but a friend told me about this. Used this and haven't had any boiler issues since

Is this product suitable for oil fired central heating system. A plumber just told me to buy Fernox stuff but I see there are a few different kinds?

What heats your water/heating doesn't matter: it's more important if it's a vented or closed/pressure system. If its standard open vent, ie: it has a tank up in loft, any good quality system cleaner will do. Fernox F3 is a good gentle cleaner that won't be too aggressive as on old pipework, you can make problems with very strong stuff!

Can this be used in car cooling system as a flush?

Technically, it seems, using it in a car is less hazardous then indoors. But it depends on the amount you use. Household central heating systems do not use rubber seals or washers, but car cooling systems do, this may damage rubber seals or washers over a period of time.
