Kentucky Woods Bourbon Barrel Cake

The cake itself was amazing and is a great treat for yourself or gift idea. But what really shined for me was the customer service. Just to quickly summarize: order was shipped to an incorrect location due to some system error. The seller/company quickly rectified the situation and overnight shipped me a new cake at no additional cost to me. Thank for making the situation right! I was pleasantly surprised to find my delivery when I did. This proved to me that I can re-order in the future with confidence.

I’ve bought 10 of these over the past two years as gifts and everybody loves them. The 3.2lb version is huge and serves a good sized group. Very rich and moist. The bourbon flavor is not overpowering. Highly recommend but be careful who you order from as a there appear to be a lot of distributors.

The title of the product is misleading with bourbon whiskey and chocolate cake. There is no taste of alcohol and chocolate. The cake should have been labelled as cocoa cake and not chocolate cake. There is a difference between cocoa cake and real chocolate cake. The cake did not taste like cocoa and neither does it taste like chocolate. It is alcohol free and therefore should have been labelled as alcohol free from the very beginning. The cake was served at a gourmet club of professional bakers and cooks and we were very disappointed with the quality. Rum Savarin should include the taste of alcohol from the rum and not rum extract. Hence, the title is misleading and should be corrected. We felt we were being deceived into buying the cake. The vendor fails to address the problem despite of a few emails requesting for an explanation.

Great tasting cake #1 flavor

Cake arrived in Texas as a gift and plastic covering containing cake was torn. Recipient was afraid to eat cake because they thought it might be tampered with. It arrived only in wooden bourbon barrel and not in a box so it would have been easy for tampering to occur. I ordered last year and order was fine, but not this year.

The flavor was superb, just as I remembered from cakes I have received as gifts in the past. It was also VERY fresh. Yummmmm

Shipping was way faster than I thought. Got to me 4 days before the lastest arrival date near St. Valentine’s Day. Bought as a gift for a lady. I didn’t get a chance to try any but a 3lb. Cake has got to tasted good. 390 cal. Per serving and 14 servings. That’s 5460 cal. Total. Don’t buy it your the only one that’s going to eat it! Lol
