Sennheiser Consumer Audio BTD 600 Bluetooth® Dongle - USB-A/USB-C Adapter with AptX Audio Codecs for Stable, Sound - Listen to Music, Make Calls, and Watch Videos

Update: Since I posted this review, the BTD-600 had a firmware update that has completely overhauled the device and improved the audio quality in major ways.For starters, the most recent firmware update claims to add support for the sample rate, 96khz. I say claims to because that's not what my Qudelix-5K Bluetooth DAC is reporting, and even before this update, Windows let you select 96khz. I suspect even if it did support 96khz, the Qudelix would not be able to receive it at that rate. It uses the QCC5124 chip, and if you look up the features, the chip doesn't seem to support 96khz. The first mention of 96khz audio came with Bluetooth 5.2. With the BTD-600 being a Bluetooth 5.2 adapter, it would make sense for it to support 96khz, but I don't have a device capable of testing it. For the record, it seems that chips that support AptX Lossless use Bluetooth 5.3, so I doubt this adapter will ever receive an update adding AptX Lossless.While I can't say whether it's actually transmitting 96khz, I can say that the 280kbps limit has been lifted. On my Qudelix-5K, I'm able to receive audio generally from 350kbps up to a maximum 430kbps, and the difference in audio quality is significant. Before, the audio quality was noticeably compressed. Not terrible, and the benefits to latency make up for those shortcomings, but also not great. Now, to my ears, it's functionally perfect, and the best part about it is that it does this without affecting latency. It still seems to deliver 80ms of latency, just with significantly better audio quality. This is very different from adapters that have separate low latency and quality modes, like the Creative BT-W5, which seems to at least double the amount of latency when in quality mode, and limits the audio quality in low latency mode, similarly to how this adapter used to work, and that adapter is 25% more expensive than this one, and in terms of its implementation of AptX Adaptive, it's just worse.For this reason, this is an exceptional adapter for movies and games, which, in my opinion, is the big draw of AptX Adaptive. If you just want high quality for music, AptX and AptX HD are open source now. On Windows, you can buy Alternative A2DP for $5 and get high audio quality, without needing separate hardware, and I'd expect more devices to start supporting AptX and AptX HD by default from now on, but high audio quality and low latency is something you can only get from AptX Adaptive, and even other, more expensive products aren't able to deliver what this adapter does.That being said, it's not completely perfect. I noticed some stutter. It's pretty bad when you first connect your device. Over time it becomes more stable, but brief instance of stutter still happens occasionally. Signal strength is far more important now than before, probably because it's not hard to keep a 280kbps audio stream stable, so you're going to want to keep a clear path between your headphones and the adapter, and try to keep distance as low as possible. Maybe this is improved with a Bluetooth 5.2 receiver/headphones, but I can't speak for that.

I use this on my work laptop which only offers low quality bluetooth codecs, and was having connection stability issues. Now connection is rock solid, the higher quality codecs are great, I'm very happy.

Works great to bypass apple products limited Bluetooth transmission for much clearer sound quality. Will not work with iPhone unless phone is also being charge due to power withdrawal limits of those devices. Works with iPad and laptops well and easy to connect.

My initial experience with the Momentum 4 Bluetooth headset was not positive. When paired to my phone, the sound was great and the connection was great. Once I paired to my Windows 11 PC though it became almost unusable. There is an issue with Windows forcing AAC codec and once I disabled that and the microphone, it was improved but my range was still quite limited. Once I got this adapter and paired the headset though this instead of my integrated Bluetooth, 180 degree change. Sounds improved, range is improved and the ease of use is simple. I'm really happy with the headset and the adapter really made it work well on PC.

I can't believe the difference in sound quality! It works perfectly. Be sure to read the quick start guide because it's a little tricky to setup. Apple users...you need to know that you will no longer be using the internal Bluetooth, you will now be using the adapter. You actually pair your headphones to the adapter. Also, be certain to download the Momentum 4 app on your iPhone. There, you can see if you are now using aptX, which is necessary to transmit the music in High Resolution. If the CODEC doesn't say aptX, you are not getting the highest quality sound. Keep trying.

I use this adapter with a pair of Momentum 4's and they reduce latency enough to not really notice issues with movies or games. They do improve the sound a bit, but it's hard to tell.The only issue I've ran into is when using multipoint between PC and laptop. If I'm on a call with the laptop, the PC connection will periodically disconnect and reconnect. This is fine when I'm on a call but the notifications in the headphones are very distracting. You can disable them using the phone app.

This thing is absolutely unusable. I bought to use with a pair of Sennheiser earbuds and assumed it would function together really well. It does not. When they *do* manage to connect to the dongle, the sound blips in for a millisecond and then out for a few seconds and then back in and out and in. It is literally useless.

I've used the BTD 600 with Airpods, Momentum 4, and the Qudelix 5K attached to a modified ATH-M50X on Windows. It can only remember one device at a time but it's not too bad given re-pairing isn't too hard(hold down button for 3 sec). The connection was a bit choppy until I removed it from my keyboard port and ran it to the side of my desk with a dedicated USB cable that came with my mouse. That was the location of the original BT adapter I was using for all my BT accessories, which has now been moved to the keyboard. 5K showed it connected with AptX Adaptive which sounds good to me. The Momentum 4 sounds cleaner when connected to my iPhone but both are good connections, no way to know what version of AptX it was using on PC sadly, Airpods are SBC. The firmware update download is just a folder with a bunch of files, no read me text explaining what to do. Can be used low profile w/ a USB A port or sticking out with included USB C adapter.I would like;-Multi pairing-Higher power for greater range-Firmware update documentation-No way to know chipset used but hopefully forward thinking for BT 5.3 and LC3 codec w/ frmw update.P.S. SBC XQ for some reason is thrown under a rug...Update: Confirmed with company chipset used is not forward compatible with BT 5.3. LC3 codec is listed as possible under 5.2 spec but I didn’t receive a direct answer to my LC3 question.Update 2: I finally took the plunge and upgraded the BTD 600 firmware to version 1.22. Unfortunately, this has created significant issues with my AirPods. I'm now experiencing frequent sound cutouts on one or both sides, along with audio distortion. This is a major blow to the device's usability for my primary use case, which is 80% AirPods, 20% headphone’s(Qudelix 5K).I've spent several hours troubleshooting, trying various steps to resolve the problem without success. Interestingly, all other devices I've connected—the Qudelix 5K, Fiio BTR3K, and Shure BT2—seem to perform as expected, so the issue appears to be specific to the AirPods or TWS earbuds in general.I contacted Sennheiser support and was generally satisfied with their response time and initial guidance. They asked me to download a "new" firmware version, which turned out to be the same 1.22 version I had already installed. They also suggested a reset, a step I had already performed multiple times in different sequences.My frustration grew when they requested proof of purchase and then informed me I was outside the warranty period. It's disappointing to be given an "out of warranty" statement when the problem seems to have been introduced by their own firmware update tool.I communicated my intention to switch to a different brand's product. In response, they offered a 10% discount on their new BTD 700. While I appreciate the gesture of goodwill, I'm hesitant to invest in another product from the same brand given the issues I've encountered with this one.Computer OS: Windows 11Firmware version attempted: 1.22Ports: Multiple motherboard ports, with and without extensions.Devices: Two different Airpod 4's, Qudelix 5K, Fiio BTR3K, Shure BT2.Stars dropped due to my experience. Outside of loosing AirPod functionality, device performance seems solid. Keep this in mind if you plan to upgrade firmware and use mainly TWS earphones, 2 pairs of AirPod 4’s are the only TWS earphones I could test.Update 3: Experiencing more and more stutters on my main headphones using Qudelix 5K, I've used up enough time troubleshooting, will switch completely to another brand. I should have never updated the firmware.

Słuchawki Sennheiser Momentum 4 po Bluetooth w telefonie grają bardzo dobrze. Po podłączeniu tego transmitera grają jeszcze lepiej. Jeżeli posłuchasz muzyki przez adapter BTD 600 a po jakimś czasie przejdziesz na transmisję po Bluetooth standardowy to dopiero docenisz wyższość BTD 600 Wart tych pieniędzy. POLECAM

Improves the sound quality of my excellent earbuds (my Android phone supports only the most basic AptX, this dongle supports AptX Adaptive when connected to it). I have updated its firmware on my MacBook without a problem!

Working perfectly, no setup needs to be done. Just uppdat the drivers and your good to go.

So i bought this. Laptop detected it as audio card, okay as per policy. Perfectly paired with my Bluetooth headset and it works.
