Perfect cup of coffee, every single time!
My wife bought this coffee machine after much research on her part, and being disappointed by the result of one of the pod coffee machines before. I am not much of a coffee enthusiast myself, so therefore was not too involved with the research phase of her purchase. Now that we are 5 months into our purchase, I feel compelled to write this review.First of all, the footprint of this machine is quite big. Its tall enough to not fit on the counter space which is under the cabinets, therefore we have to keep it towards the counter edge where there are no cabinets to obstruct. Secondly, the buttons seem a bit gimmicky, with bright blue and red lines blinking, and the overall construction feels a bit cheap-ish, as its mostly plastic. However, this is where the cons end, and the awesomeness begins. Straight off the bat, the machine is incredible, and even I look forward to my weekend morning coffee, freshly brewed from this. Before getting into all the specs and details, I have to say that the coffee that comes out of this machine is incredibly tasty, fresh, with amazing aromas. As other reviewers have said, while it is not meant for professional use, it is definitely more than worth it for in house use, and given how picky my wife can be with her hot beverages, she is in love head over heels with this one.The instructions are pretty straightforward really. You put in a certain number of scoops of coffee in the coffee filter, and the corresponding amount of cups of water (clearly marked on the container itself) into the coffee machine. You put the container in its rightful place, and press the on/off button and voila! Within seconds you can see the small drizzle of coffee slowly pouring down into the container. What’s even more amazing is that the base of the coffee machine is actually a hot plate, and it stays turned on till half an hour after you prepare your coffee. That means that your coffee is always fresh and hot, even if you decide to go for round two. For me, the end product is simply too good. There is another feature where you can load up the machine and set a timer on it, and it will automatically turn on and make coffee for you. I used it only once, to check whether it works, and it really does. However, note that any time you unplug the device, the time on it resets, so you have to adjust the clock again. Given I had a lack of sockets due to other kitchen appliances being plugged in, I always had to unplug this device, therefore didn’t really use its timer feature that much. With regards to any negative reviews, I would say that it almost goes without saying that you need to find a blend of coffee which works for you. My wife actually uses paper filters she buys off eBay, and the coffee we have been using is from Dunkin Donuts, which is slightly expensive, but well worth it for us as we both love it. Oh, and we add Coffee Mate rather than milk. Therefore, you will need to experiment with the type of blend you prefer and sooner or later, you will get there, and never turn back. With regards to consistency, I am yet to have a single “average” cup of coffee, as every single time the result is just incredible. Reliability wise, I’m into my 5th month, with regular usage, and there have been no issues whatsoever. If you are a coffee enthusiast, and can appreciate what it means to have a freshly brewed hot cup of coffee, look no further. This machine is a god send! 5 stars all round!

Good quality coffee maker, terrible lights
The media could not be loaded. Although the item isn't on Amazon Prime nexdt day delivery, it did actually arrive the next working day by courier (Hermes I believe), was incredibly well packaged. Unfortunately getting it out of the packaging was somewhat difficult as the only way to remove it was to remove the jug, but you couldn't reach the jug because of all the packaging, In the end the jug dropped back into the box, but thankfully didn't break. The instructions are very clear and easy to read, and setting up the coffee maker was easy. The keep warm facility does indeed keep it hot for 30mins, but most other brands have a 2 hour keep warm so by 2 hours it was cold. Unfortunately I'm a slow drinker so making more than one cupful to keep warm is wasted. However, the 30mins is great for programmed coffee making, as it gives a bit of leeway - I set the timer for when I wake up, so if I happen to press snooze on my alarm, the coffee is still hot. However, whilst the image provided of the clock is quite clear, it really doesn't do justice to the horrendous brightness of the clock. The glow is so bright we don't need to turn a light on in the kitchen to see what we're doing.Another, in my opinion, downside is the On/Auto/Off button. There are 4 different lights, black/off, red, bright glowing blue, and flashing bright glowing blue. Red is for brewing coffee adhoc. Bright glowing blue is for when you press On, black/off is for off, but for timed it's the terrible flashing bright glowing blue light. As I tend to make coffee just once a day (for when I wake up) I have this set on timer (well had, I no longer can) and once I make my morning coffee, I get it ready for the following day (in case I forget in the evening). Unfortunately this means the flashing glowing light flashes constantly, and together with the horrendous clock brightness, it's like christmas light display in our kitchen. Unfortunately I suffer from regular horrendous migraines (no coffee doesn't affect/cause migraines, it's the reduction or increase in caffeine intake that does) and the lights (especially with the flashing) were too severe and kept triggering migraines, so I can no longer have it on timed. In my opinion, it should be flashing for adhoc coffee making, and red to warn that it's on a program. For a jug filled to the eight cup mark it takes 9 minutes to complete. I usually come downstairs, set the coffee going, do some housework while I wait, then make my coffee. While I find the coffee filter provided great for the environment, it's a fuss to clean as once emptied into the bin (our council doesn't support a separate food waste collection) you still need to rinse out the remaining grind, and it always leaves the sink in a mess and it takes ages to rinse away all the grinds. As such, I purchased a pack of Size 4 filter paper (as recommended in the review by Alan McIntyre) and this works much better. The coffee scoop provided is quite small, but represents one level scoop per cup mark on the side of the jug. I find 3 level scoops of my normal scoop is about right for 8 cups (I measured, and 2 level scoops of the provided came to 2-3 cm below the level of my normal scoop, but I don't like strong coffee so for those who do I would recommend 4 scoops. I also find my coffee mug (I use a 350ml travel mug) takes up to mark 4, which leaves enough space for syrup and milk. The machine itself is nice and lightweight, and as a disabled person who suffers from chronic pain in the back, shoulder and arm this was something I was concerned about because kitchen surface space is a minimum and I would have to push the machine away when not in use and pull out when it is. Due to it being so lightweight, this is an easy task.Pros:Good quality buildLightweightEasy to useOwn filter and ability to use paper filters insteadCons:Clock lightFlashing program lightOnly 30min warmer

Great coffee maker and great time saver.
If there's one thing I can't live without every morning, it's fresh coffee. This machine not only looks stylish, it brews coffee to perfection. I can use the timer to get my coffee fully brewed every morning and the hot plate keeps it warm for up to 30 minutes, allowing me to do all those things we need to do before a long day at work. It's a luxury to me to have this machine to make my coffee before I get up in the morning - in a busyt day, that's priceless and on top, the coffee if just right 0 never too hot which spoils the taste.

Decent machine but died after 8 months
I bought this in May 2016 and it just died on my Jan 2017 so not quite eight full months. The lights still work, just no heat so no coffee. I used my coffee machines once every day, occasionally twice. My previous two lasted 18 months to two years before packing up.Apart from the disappointingly short life of the unit it was generally good and made nice coffee. Good to have the larger carafe, it could be filled with water from the left or the right, and it was pretty quick, although it had slowed down a couple of months back. As the unit is fairly big, the top cannot be opened when at the back of the worktop due to the cupboard units above, so it has to be dragged forward, but the rubber feet do grip the work top. I don't see why they need to be so non slip. The on button also puts it into delayed mode with multiple presses which is fine unless you accidentally press it twice and have to go to the manual to figure out how to just turn it off.
