Perfect egg custard
I bought this for one single purpose: egg custard. I have other steam cookware, but I can never make a perfect egg custard. This does the job so well: perfect pudding texture, beautiful color and no air bubbles inside or outside . All I need to do is : 2gg+ 1/2 cup water, remove the foam after whisking. Now I can have egg custard everyday

The best egg maker
Very simple to use. Very simple to clean. Creates just the right amount of heat to boil the eggs, no less no more. Works very simply one button for options. It is nice that it is small and compact does not take up too much space on the counter. Very good for value of money and it saves time in the morning.

Chime is weak.
Very weak chime ! Five feet away and you don't hear it. And of course since you'll be late, you got the eggs overcooked because the water is still very hot.

This was exactly what I was looking for.
I've tried several of the cheaper egg cooker options, and none of them really did what I was looking for. Those cheap cookers made eggs that were always undercooked or overcooked, if they worked at all in some cases. I saw this one, and I hesitated a bit when I saw that it costs about twice as much as all the budget models, but turns out that it's totally worth it. The hard boiled and soft boiled are literally perfect, every single time. And, the big bonus is that this model also makes amazing onsen tamago, which NONE of the other machines can do. It's so easy, too. You just drop in your eggs, hit the button and wait for the chime and you have from 1-4 *perfect* eggs. I'm very, very pleased with this product. And it feels like it's a sturdy, well-made and high-quality appliance. I just wish I would have found it sooner! Don't hesitate, it's worth it!

Are you picky about eggs?
If you answered yes, then this is the right egg cooker. It isn't the highest volume egg cooker, nor the fastest, it doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles; it's not competing on those levels. What it does is cook up to 4 eggs absolutely perfectly if you follow the instructions. It has a super simple design, one touch control, and is a high quality build for the person who wants soft-boiled eggs every morning for months and wants them to be done exactly right. Or hard-boiled if you're my roommate. The onsen-tamago setting is amazing too if you want the perfect kind of egg to put on eggs benedict or heuvos rancheros, or for topping rice or ramen, putting on katsudon, or as a delicious addition to garlic spaghetti- just crack it right over whatever you're eating and the egg slides out, the whites set like a custard while the yolks are cooked thru so they're soft set- outside breakfast this is the setting i use most. So if your first consideration is volume, not the egg cooker for you; the fastest setting is soft-boiled at around 14 minutes. That means 16 possible eggs an hour. Other cookers make more than that at once. If your consideration is speed, again the shortest cooking time is 14 minutes. Other egg cookers say they do it in half that. If you like your eggs done like that, good for you. But if your consideration is the quality of what comes out of your egg cooker, and are fussy about the textures of your eggs, then this here one is for you. Following the instructions is as simple as: put in eggs; add ambient room temperature water; touch control button to select setting. Then it plays a jingle to let you know when they're done and it's time to take them out; and like anything that you are cooking, if you leave them in longer, expect that they will continue to cook, ie. get firmer and firmer, so don't blame the cooker (reviewers) if you don't pay attention. It's not like it's hard to take them out and set them on the counter, the eggs sit on a cute little rack with handles that comes up out of the water so you can lift them out and set them aside when you hear the chime.

Undercooks onsen tamago
The steaming function is nice (keep in mind the egg will continue to cook in the little pot, even if removed from the machine). The onsen tamago setting undercooks the egg so I suggest leaving it in the machine another 5 minutes or so.

Really works as described
Just got this and tried it for the first time. I love soft boiled eggs but it difficult to get it right in a pot of water. I set this to soft boiled with two eggs and when it beeped I took the eggs out. I cracked the top and dug in with my spoon. Oh Ya, perfectly soft boiled eggs! So good. I will be trying the steamed eggs next. This comes with an actual high quality ceramic crock to make the steamed eggs. Crack in the raw eggs, season, and stir them up a bit then cook on the steam setting. Should be awesome! Be sure to butter or non stick spray the crock. I found that out the hard way. Just made the steamed eggs and they stuck in the crock. They cooked perfectly but stuck to the sides.

Worked for less than 3 months
Got the cooker, it worked great until recently. Now it cycles thru all the modes and won't run. It's not even 3 months old and already busted. Do NOT recommend for longevity.
