These wipes are fresh and relieve my eyes of pain and discomfort. I use them night and morning to make my eyes more comfortable, with less pain and discomfort. Ok. Water and a cotton pad would do for me. It does slightly sting like others have said. Not a harsh sting. I don't have eczema. Yes always keep eyes closed and use a small amount of lotion. I prefer the gel.
