The 1950s Scrapbook (Scrapbook)

This is an amazing blast from the past, enjoyed by my 89 year old mother as she can recall so many items from her era. I was very annoyed that the delivery person just dumped it on the doorstep, no need when we are in and the doorbell is in perfect working order.

What a big book full of nostalgia! Worth every single penny. Extraordinary good quality paper and print covering so many objects and memories from my past. It's addictive!!! Can't put it down. Robert Opie never fails to please his readers. Highly recommend this beautiful book.

I bought this scrapbook following my interest in the 1950s after watching 'Call the Midwife'. I really love this book because it brings out the best of the '50s. I really enjoy looking at books which have mostly pictures in (this scrapbook has little text) so it doesn't contain many facts but it gives you a wonderful insight into '50as life through packaging '50s people would have seen every day. I love Robert Opie books and merchandise, I would recommend anything by him. I find that I can look through this book repeatedly without getting g bored and I always seem to find something I didn't notice before. It is great for referencing events like the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II because it shows hankies, tins, picture books etc from that time. A truly brilliant book!

This scrap book showing numerous photographs of objects and products used so soon after the second world war. As a family we never saw many at the time but heard about them.

This book is amazing. Don’t take too much notice of reviews saying they can’t read it. That’s what’s good about it and not really why it exists. The images bring back memories and help start conversations. It’s often difficult for dementia sufferers to strike up a lasting conversation but this allows them to tell stories about their memories.

This entire series is great. I am a graphic designer and I use them all the time. They are British ephemera based, but the styles and colours are well represented. One double page collage or scrapbook for ads, foods, toys, fashion, makeup, transportation, new fangled gadgets etc. . These books are large, 15" high x 10 1/2" wide and 1/2" thick. You get to see lots of details in the images and lots of areas of life at that time is covered. Enjoyable, entertaining, good reference book. This was the last one I needed to complete the entire series. Thrilled.

Purchased this book for my husband. He was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and I've been trying to find things to keep his brain stimulated with memories. He has enjoyed flipping through the pages that are filled with pictures and recognizing things he grew up with. I'd recommend this book for anyone Sr or young person alike.

The size is double an A4 so a lot of book and twice the pages. It is very British. I would say the world was bigger then the U.K. alone so there is a lot of work to do. a continental customer.
