ClarionRCB 199 Bluetooth Microphone

I have a Garmin Nuvi 880. It has the Bluetooth feature. The microphone that is built in is adequate but I was looking for something better. I tried the Garmin external microphone and it was not much better than the one that is built into the unit. In my search for replacement options, I tried a few other popular microphones brands. All of them were about the same as Garmin options. Then I ordered the Clarion. A significant difference to all others I tried. Works great. Clear with minimal background noise on my Garmin Nuvi. Recommended! Note: this is a 3.5mm plug and Garmin uses 2.5mm plug. You will need to obtain a converter. I found one at Radio Shack that works well.

Didn't work. Defective right out of the package.Not worth the hassle of returning it.Very disappointed!!

Oh wow, the ease of hands free. Now I see why people like it. This mic has great clarity and makes things so much easier and less of a chance for a ticket. Works superbly with my Clarion CZ702

I sync my phone with the built-in microphones of Ford hybrids at work and I am told the sound is crystal clear. I installed this microphone with a brand new Clarion stereo. The mic is less than a foot from my wife's mouth when she is driving, and pointed directly at her. The sound quality is only OK. Better than my car's mic, but nowhere close to clear.

This microphone is a massive improvement over the built in one on our nx404. I was lucky enough to be able to mount it on the rear view mirror stalk on our 2008 Prius and route the cable through the headliner and A pillar trim. The "instructions" suggest mounting this thing on the driver's sun visor but that seems really inconvenient if you ever intend to actually use the sun visor. Vehicles with a traditional dash cluster could probably mount it there. If you are even a little handy, you could remove the top portion with the swivel mount for the mic and mount it on the dash somewhere. The cable for the mic is very long and thin enough to route just about anywhere.The sound from the mic is still a little tiny but clear and loud enough. It's not much worse than the factory mic we had with Sync on a prior Ford we owned.

I am using this mic with a clarion cz501 with an Iphone. I have tried both the internal and external microphone settings in the radio. Siri only works about 20% of the time. People still can't hear me over the phone. This is all with the windows up and the mic clipped onto the visor and pointing toward my mouth. It does have a really long cord though. That's why I gave it two stars.

This microphone works great! I drive a truck for a living and have been using the Blue Parrot for years. I bought a Clarion bluetooth head unit for my truck and the built in microphone was letting in too much noise, so I purchased this and installed on my visor and now everybody can hear me perfectly in my noisy truck.

The call clarity is exceptional, installation was a snap. I highly recommend this product to anyone who owns a clarion head unit.

The Mic doesn't look anything like the photograph i.e the mic mount in no way resembles the picture ( common image used on the Internet ) also why is it described as bluetooth?? it's hard wired, Finally there is no branding anywhere, on the Product or Packaging to reassure that this is the genuine article" apart from that it works, and I feel overpriced.
