A nice addition to a great series. A bit superficial.
3.5 StarsThe "Midnight Breed" used to be my all times favorite PNR series though lately its place have been taken. Yet I still get excited when I hear there's a new novel in the series, even though it's just a short novella which doesn't feature most of the known characters in the series. These novellas are a nice way for people to try this series and see if it works for them, because it doesn't reveal too much and allows people who don't know any of things that happen in the 10+ books to enjoy a short novella and also be tempted to grab the first one and immerse themselves in the Midnight Breed world. We've already met both MCs in the previous installments. Tamisia "Sia" in "Defy the Dawn". She is an Atlantian and she is banished from the colony after her actions cost another Atlantian's life. She is struggling to make a home in the human world, now working in a women's shelter with another Atlantian who chose the life on the human world. Trygg was introduced to us in another novella - "Midnight Unbound". He helped the two MCs there in a time of danger. He used to be a Hunter, raised and controlled by the crazy Dragos. He was set free when he was 14 years old only to find himself in another sort of enslavement. Once he realized that he escaped with a reminder to keep his trust close to him. Now he is working for the Order in Italy.Sia and Trygg are an unlikely couple. Trygg works best on his own and Sia though VERY capable is still clueless to the dangers that the Order are already well aware of - a man named Santino is manufacturing and distributing "Red Dragon", a drug that can make any Breed male into a killer. That's the mission Trygg is on when he stumbles upon Sia in the women's shelter. Sia's bravery speaks to Trygg yet he will not allow her to enter his world and use her charm to disarm his well laid walls. Sia is surprised with how she reacts to Trygg, they are kind of enemies by breed.. and yet she is drawn to him and she can't help herself. Though Trygg does find himself succumbing to her, he pushes her right away. When Sia offers to help the Order he finds himself working with her if he likes it or not and sooner or rather LATER he realizes he truly wants her by his side. This short novella felt a bit superficial to me. Trygg and Sia's attraction was somewhat OTT as it is with most of these PNR books which though I'm a bit weary of, I also accept as a part of the paranormal theme. Yet their love was too quick to my liking. Even if they WERE impressed with one another, it's takes more time for deeper feelings. The story about the drugs was a bit strange. I'm not sure what I think of it truth be told. It was a part of the story and yet it wasn't and it ended quite abruptly maybe to be revisited again in the next full length novel?I like this series, I enjoy the world Lara has build for us, and yet I feel I"m a bit tired of these short novellas. It's a nice glimpse and reminder of the series, but I enjoy FAR more the full length novels in which we get a FULL story with romance and action packed together as well as characters I've loved and missed from the previous books.Tags: Paranormal MF RomanceMore @ Ultra Meital Reviews.

Midnight Unleashed is part of author Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series (swoon) and is novella number 17 in the 2017 1,001 Dark Nights lineup. Being a huge fan of Ms. Adrian’s work, I was so excited for this release and I’ve gotta say, once again I am totally smitten with these Breed characters! These two characters were so so so amazing! Sia is an Atlantean and must lean a new life in the human realm after being exiled from her home after quite a devistating incident. Trygg is a Gen One vampire and serving the Order after a heartbreaking past and lives his life as a protector. Their paths had crossed in the past and they never thought they’d see each other again…until fate brought them back together. And when they do reunite? LET THE SPARKS FLY!Between the sexual tension, the danger, the push and pull of emotion, I was glued to every word on every page! I loved Trygg when he was trying to push Sia away. When he was trying to convince her he was a warrior an incapable to give her what she needs. I loved Sia when she was determined to convince Trygg he was so much more than just a warrior. That he was exactly what he needed. Few authors can deliver strong yet vulnerable heroes and the strong heroines who love them like Lara Adrian! This story is totally swoon-worthy and deliciously engrossing!Whether you’re already a Lara Adrain fan or this novella it’s your first taste, I know you will love this story as much as I did! Thank you, Ms. Adrian, for another phenomenal read!

Nice for a novella, but I wish it had been longer.
I loved this novella! The characters just get better and better. It was nice to read the story of the main characters of this book. I love seeing the different parts of the "Breed world". I won't bore you with a plot summary as I know other reviewers are fond of doing that. I was glad that the Kindle Fire version of this novella has a table of contents because I don't find that to be true with every book I read on my Kindle Fire. If you liked the previous books and novellas in this series I say you should give this one a shot because I don't think you'll be disappointed. Have at it! I can't wait to read the next one.

I wanted to feel that Trygg was all in and I didn't.
It started out good. Interesting case that Trygg and Sia have to work together to solve, just the right amount of sex, and an impressive display of badassery from Sia. But what killed it for me was that Sia put in ALL the work. We're left wondering if Trygg only gave in because she fed him or if he really did love her. I would have loved some grand gesture on his part. *shrugs*

enjoyable story and characters
I actually had my doubts as to whether he was going to let her get away, silly male! These two characters were great together; it definitely had some emotional tension, the plot was good, and the conflict was entertaining. This is a novella, but that didn't take away from it being a good story.

I love the love story. But sometimes things need to be drawn out more or end differently. But I do love reading each story. I feel like I know these characters personally. Can't wait for the next one!

Very enjoyable short story from Lara Adrian, good storyline, action and romance, would have liked to find out how the baby fared in the women's refuge, maybe the author will turn those events into another great story
