Strong Sturdy Lock let down by plastic ball insert (previously metal insert)
This lock is insurance approved as stated on the packaging.The materials used in this hitchlock are metallic and strong, bar the dummy ball insert, which is made of hard plastic. Previously this lock was supplied with a metal ball insert. The installation video shows a metal ball insert.The purpose of the ball insert is to stop the trailer being connected to a vehicle and it also holds the main body of the lock in position by holding the locking crossbolt behind the vertical part of the dummy ball insert . The fact the insert is plastic instead of a previously supplied metal insert, means 3 stars instead of 5 stars. Metal would be best option for dummy ball insert, sturdier, and greater peace of mind.Review based on partner's purchase of this lock from Amazon

Great security and Deterrent
I’ve had this lock for three months now I’m very impressed. It’s been on the trailer everyday throughout the rain and despite getting knocked about shows no signs of rust. It fits snuggly over the hitch with the lock barrel securing it in place flush so cannot be hammered or grind off. I have recommended this to friends who have purchased it and are equally impressed. Well worth the cost.

Visual Detternt and should slow down a thief.
Well made and heavy steel. Comes complete with hitch cover. Plastic tow ball, lock and keys. First add the plastic tow ball, then lock your trailer hitch. Place stronghold over the hitch, Then you slide in the stronghold locking bar, that spins within the hitch itself once locked.Adds protection when not hitched to a vehicle as a good Detternt. You can also fix when hitched to a stationery vehicle. I would not drive with device fitted.
