Can this device be used with the amazon echo dot?

I am using it with an Echo & it works fine

Can this device be used to connect to my hi-fi system so i can play music from my laptop or tablet ?

I have it connected to my HiFi with RCA cables and Bluetooth my phone into it. I charge via USB when necessary rather than using a power adapter. You need to increase the volume on your source to get a reasonable level - after that, you can use your amp volume

I have just received mine and it will not pair with either my bose ae2 headphones or bose soundlink speaker, just stays in pairing mode (flashing)?

Read the description. It's a Bluetooth RECEIVER, not a transmitter. There is no logic in pairing Bluetooth headphones or speakers with it. It's function is to pair with a Bluetooth transmitter, e.g. a phone, so you can then plug in wired headphones or wired speakers, or wired hi-fi.

Will this transmit from rca to mobile phone, or does it only work the other way round?
