3S 4S 12V 5.5A Battery Active Equalizer Balancer Energy Transfer Board

Balanced my M18 12Ah overnight from 150mV to within 5mV. Very happy as the design brings the cells into equilibrium in lieu of designs that bring everything to the lowest cell voltage. At start I measured just over 20mA of current. Was surprised to find the next morning everything was balanced. It has a run light that was still on in the morning. Idk if it was still balancing but good enough. This was a battery I replaced 2 bad cells in. Nice for money. No frills, need a meter to confirm results.

These things are amazing. They do a better (more accurate, and faster) job of balancing than my balancing chargers, and can be used for pre-charge, during charge and post charge balancing. I never liked using BMSes on my battery packs, preferring just to monitor conditions closely to get away with using simpler systems, fewer components to break down and the ability to over-power for short periods.I sure wish these had been available 20 years ago when I was actively building a lot of E-bikes and other battery operated systems. They would have made life much easier.Now, if the company would make similar modules that would balance 6 Volt Lead Acid battery arrays, I could vastly improve my solar power system for a reasonable cost. :-)

I have a high-end 206-Ah SOK battery with an Overkill Solar (Xiaoxiang) BMS that I installed because I wanted bluetooth. This battery has developed one cell that just doesn't like to play nicely with the others as it approaches full charge and the built-in balancer in the BMS just doesn't balance the cells aggressively enough. This board solved the problem completely. I have since bought a couple more to address similar issues in a home-built battery and another commercial one. A really elegant, affordable solution.

The active equalizer matches the voltages within0.003 volts in my Humsienk 314 AH battery. I had to take the top up to repair the temperature sensor in the battery and while I had it up I added this equalizer and after a few cycles (not full discharge, just cycling on solar) it brought the cells within 0.003 volts and it has pretty much stayed there.

Overall seems pretty solid. Mosfets are G045N03. Driver chips are unmarked. I suspect without looking into it too much (lazy) probably just some type simple square wave generator. Maybe an op-amp oscillator. This device isn't "smart" it just continuously shuffles the capacitors. That's not a bad thing however. It just works.Initial checks on a small battery pack during chargeing seems great... within the quoted 5mV. but then again they are new batteries and may be simply well matched.Big drawback is the noise. I ended up swapping capacitors out for different ones for unrelated personal reasons, but if I recall, the original switching frequency was about 6.3kHz which was audible. After the capacitor swap it was 5.2kHz (Scope screenshot). If this is inside or a shed or something, it wont be a problem, but you would not want this where you occupy your time.Original capacitors are unbranded. I wouldn't personally run this thing at the quoted 5A balancing load. That's quite a bit of ripple current.

Simple to install. Checked with my clamp meter and it would transfer up to 2 amps on my system.Though it balances more aggressively than a BMS, if batteries are way out of balance I recommend parallel balancing batteries first. I also recommend taping some barley paper over the exposed circuits to prevent short circuits.

I found this battery balancer very useful and effective. I used it daily for months, but it died due to my error.Please triple-check the battery pack's resistance. I failed to notice a dead battery with high resistance, and the capacitor exploded and melted my silicone mat. The photo shows the melted area on my mat.

Never got to use it. Maybe it is meant for an experienced user, Other than wiring order, has no information.Does it need to be used with a charger, Does the BMS have to be disconnected ? Do the batteries have to be fully charged ? When should it be used ? It is a new type of balancer (Capacitive) I don't have time to spend looking all over the internet only to see people arguing pros and Cons. I am using Daly Smart BMS, but it has a different plug for the balancer. It would be a good idea to use a standard plug, so you could just unplug the wires from the BMS, and Plug them into this device.

Balanced like a champ for 10 minutes after I got it installed on a 16S LiFePO4 pack. Would be a great unit, if it didn't let the smoke out and stop functioning.

Connected this balancer to a 6S2P bank of SCIB 20AH LTO cells and after a few hours it had every cell within 2mv of eachother. Unlike other balancers that only balance when near full charge this balancer continues to operate throughout the voltage range so take that into account when choosing the best balancer for your application.
