U218 Singles [VINYL]

I recently saw U2 live in Sheffield at what was one of the best gigs I have ever seen. The right mix of old and new material and that sums up this CD, all of the classics plus the newer material including my favourite "Vertigo". There's much crap written about U2 and Bono by the "right on" brigade but the facts remain - a tight, vibrant, energetic band in their 27th year at the top that know how to play, how to entertain and how to rock. What more can you ask for and I have played this CD over and over and over since I re-discovered one of the truly great rock bands on the planet. You don't have to share their views on politics or the environment to enjoy the music, last time I checked we live in a democracy !

Good album

Okay, I'll admit I'm not a diehard U2 fan, so the reservations some reviewers have about this collection doesn't bother me. I'm happy with what I get here: 18 singles, including the epic 'One', my personal favourite, all in very good, warm quality sound. In addition, the insert booklet features photos of the band showing their development from fresh-faced young guys, and you can also trace their music development as you listen, and (most wonderful of all) follow the lyrics, as these are given for each song. One reviewer compares this collection to a Dylan selection, but Sony are too lazy to include lyrics, so well done Universal Island!

U218 is a good collection of songs. It was designed to fit into almost everyone's taste. There's not a `wrong' song on it. Why?...well, just because every song on this compilation is a hit. Long time fans will condemn it to perdition, they will tell you that THE BEST OF 1980-1990 and 1990-2000 are better collections...and it's true! but that's not a reason to say that this album is a bad thing. It opens with "I Will Follow" and then the chain of hits is unleashed: "Beautiful Day", "With Or Without You"...etc. The album offers two new songs. Both of them could've been better, I think neither the collaboration with Green Day or "Window In The Skies" are going to become U2's classics. With this recent U218 celebration, there's a lot of stuff being offered. A single CD, a CD plus a DVD, a DVD...but the best of them all is the book "U2 BY U2"...that was designed for the long time fans!. But U218 The Singles is a good choice por those who want to have all the best known songs in one record. The booklet has the lyrics and the packaging is a nice one. So if you're looking for that good gift for these Christmas, this one is going to make it for you.

If you like U2 and are not a hard core fan with all their albums Or you want to introduce a person to the the range and quality of U2 singles This is a perfect introduction to U2 U2 are one of the very few bands where every album track is crafted, deep and meaning full, not a bit of filler If you can't afford all the albums or don't want all of them, this is a Top Winner of a CD

Excellent release. It was not available until recently. Great work. All the songs we know from U2, for sure some will disagree but really this is a great selection of songs, plus 2 new songs (this compilation dates from 2006) including a collaboration with Greenday . No more to say on the sound, now talking about the images it is a perfect product. It includes a full size booklet with all the lyrics and great photos. Difficult to have better than this.

One of my favourites and most played. I’m so happy I have this in my vinyl collection. The sound quality is fantastic highly recommended and worth buying.

Le vinyle 18 Singles de U2 est un excellent best-of. Le son est chaleureux et de très bonne qualité, parfait pour redécouvrir les plus grands titres du groupe. Un indispensable pour les fans de U218 Singles.
