Dried Whole Morel Mushrooms 50g - A Premium Quality by Hatton Hill

Read some of the reviews before ordering. Nearly put me off buying but I'm glad it didn't. Good quality dried Morels, not broken not full of dust and stalks etc as some reviews claim. Lovely whole caps with fantastic flavour when soaked for a while. Will be buying these again.

Serve with chicken and leaks. These mushrooms are best soaked overnight 200ml of waterDrain them to remove the grit but keep the morel water for later they are grown in sandy soil. Look up morel recipes Raymond Blanc has a good one.

Size and flavour are not bad at this price although several morels in the pack are far too large and thus coarse textured and flavourless. Whether fresh or dried, morels are typically used without the woody flavourless stalks but unlike more expensive options these come with the stalks attached so they are somewhat less value for money than at first appears.

These come complete with stalks which does make them not quite as good value as some of the stalks are quite large and bland. Overall they have good flavour but they cover a large range of sizes from quite small to really large (which are a bit leathery and gritty) so aesthetically they're not ideal on the plate.Overall they're fine and I'm probably being pedantic but could be better. I did buy a 2nd pack in case I was unlucky but they're the same. I'll probably try a different brand next time.

….. but the flavour was slightly disappointing. They tasted a little muddy and didn’t have such a distinctive morel flavour.

Various sizes and shapes, many stems are still on. Some are really dark.More consistancy would be needed to be a high quality product.Taste is fine.
