Microjazz Collection 1: Piano (Book & CD)

Christopher Norton's music has inspired several of my young pupils - some wanted to give up lessons until they hear some of these. They are easy to teach by rote if you like that, but also great for learning note reading and complicated rhythms, getting a really good feel for more modern music and so on. Can't recommend Norton's books highly enough.

Excellent book, with good, well-written compositions. My piano students always enjoy the pieces by Christopher Norton and memorize them quickly. They're very playable, and the levels correspond well with the abilities of the players. The Collection I piano duets are also great too.

Good introduction to playing jazz on the piano..

The book and cd are great , my daughter really enjoys playing the piano and having music in the back ground. I would recommend it to anyone that is learning the piano.

It's a great book, teaching timings/rhythms and various short tunes that you can quickly learn, so you don't get stuck or bored.

Although it took a while to arrive, when it did this book was interesting and my daughter loves it. at last practising without torture!!

My granddaughter is working through this for grade 1 piano and is finding it a good base to start her learning

In diesem Buch finden sich 20 Stücke, die den fortgeschrittenen Anfänger in die Welt des Jazz einführen! Jedem der 20 Stücke steht eine Doppelseite zur Verfügung: Auf der linken Seite werden die rhythmischen Grundlagen Stück für Stück geübt, die für das auf der rechten Seite folgende Stück nötig sind. So können die Stücke nach und nach grundlegend geübt werden. Der Schwerpunkt liegt hier allerdings deutlich auf der Erarbeitung rhythmischer Strukturen und hier insbesondere der Unabhängigkeit der linken und rechten Hand. Dadurch, dass die Melodien im Vergleich zum Rhythmus relativ leicht gehalten sind, ist es auch für dem Anfänger möglich, sich von Anfang an im Improvisieren der Melodie zu üben! KritiKpunkt: Die CD ist eine absolute Katastrophe! Klang nach billigstem 80er Jahre Synthesizer, der ureigene Pianosound der schönen Stücke ist dort nicht zu finden, geht völlig verloren! Klare Kaufempfehlung!
